It is clear to see that the true origin of the word has now been explained to society since the recent uproars of this controversy have become more familiar to the media. The term "redskin" refers to the bounty paid for the "bloody red scalps" of the Native Americans. Back then, it was perfectly legal to kill Indians. In fact, people would get paid decent money to bring in proof of an Indian killing. It is rumored that more than 60 tribes have been completely decimated because of this. This time period can draw comparisons to the problems Jewish faced as well as the problems faced by black people.
