Introduction
How tempting does it sound to glimpse at a text while driving on an empty road? I know for myself and the rest of my generation how hard it is to resist that temptation of grabbing the phone to send a text. Most of the time, the text may not even be that short so it seems okay to grab it really quick and reply back to that friend. Everyone at some point in time has been warned by many family and friends of how dangerous it is to text and drive. This problem of not wearing your seatbelt has significantly been replaced by do not text and drive. That split second when someone reaches for their phone can be the difference between them causing a major accident that can result in death, or continuing their day safe and alive. This is why AT&T launched “It Can Wait,” an initiative based on educating its primary audience which are teens and the secondary intended audience being adults and all other drivers. As years continue to pass, texting and driving is steadily becoming more of a problem in our society. At this point in time, a lot of kids at a young age are getting cell phones and also getting the driver’s license when they are just 16 years old. At such a young age, the phone that teens have become their identity which carries over to poor driving habits. AT&T noticed this problem which gave them the lead to go ahead and start the It Can Wait campaign. Texting and driving becomes a problem not only for yourself, but for other drivers on the road as well. I can personally attest to texting and driving, but after doing the research on this campaign, I do not want to be another statistic in the books. If this great trend continues to grow all over the world, hopefully one day this issue can be eliminated and if not completely eliminated, at least decrease the percentage in accident
