One of the major problems facing the United States is whether or not to take in refugees from war and poverty ravaged countries throughout the world. The refugee issue has been highly debated by many politicians.These governors believe that further security measures should be in place to screen refugees for terrorist tendencies. Those in favor of resettling refugees reason that refugees’ lives are endangered in their homelands and America should not turn them away as America has always welcomed the world’s downtrodden. Additionally, many Americans say that refugees are huge contributors to what our society is today. For these reasons, refugees should be allowed in America. Refugees are people who have been forced to leave their homes, family, friends and their lives in order to stay free from harm. These people are desperate to escape their home countries in order to live free and protect their loved ones. Sometimes the only way refugees can escape their homelands is by illegal standards. It is common to pay a human smuggler rather than facing death.

America should take these refugees in because people should not needlessly suffer when aid could be provided. If someone in America would be placed in a refugee's shoes for one day and had to live in fear of staying alive and not knowing if those they loved were still alive, then most Americans would be more than happy to help.
