The legal driving age should not be raised because students need to get to school and after school activities. An article from Tribune Business News shows that, “After years of carting kids to school and back and taking them wherever they need to go, it’s a relief to let them drive themselves” (McClatchy). Raising the driving age cause a big problem in transportation for teens. Parents spend years taking their kids to and from school and back again for sports and other after school activities. An article from New York Times Upfront says that, “...raising the driving age won’t save lives. Studies show that it is inexperience, not age, that causes accidents. Raising the driving age will just create inexperienced, accident-prone drivers at age 18 instead of 16” (D’amico & Palicz p.27). This quote shows that increasing the driving age won’t make things better, it will just make problems worse. If they raise the driving age it will just cause more inexperienced drivers and cause more accidents.
