U.S. welfare began in the 1930s during the great depression. This is how the government responded to the families and individuals in desperate aid. Though this is was good thing at the time, I feel now a days people try as hard as they can to get money out of the government so they don’t have to work. Some people literally need help from the government but it’s not fair hard working tax payers money is going to people who don’t want to work and do drugs. Yeah I said it “Americans across the country sit at home and get their check from the government and do drugs.” I feel this is a problem. Doing drugs alone is a problem, but other Americans need help financially and that help shouldn’t be wasted on drug addicts. Some may argue that welfare recipients are no more likely to have drug problems that anyone else; this is true but I feel people shouldn’t be allowed to do drugs with the government’s money.
When I talk about drugs I mean any illicit drug, such as amphetamines, hallucinogens, stimulant, and marijuana; though marijuana is a questionable drug problem, I feel it should be on the list of drug test. Go get stoned on your own dime. Depending on which program Americans in aid go to, the minimum about of help received is 2 years.
