Specific purpose: To persuade my audience to be more understanding and accepting towards people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Central Idea:
The increasing number of autism cases calls for a greater need for more understanding and acceptance of the autism community.

Being aware of autism is not simply just knowing its existence. Being aware also entails understanding their behavior and empathize with them. There are increasing efforts to create autism awareness through newspapers and campaigns like Run for Autism 2015 and “Light it Up Blue!”, but how well is this condition understood?
a. In my survey of the class, all of you, except one think that autism is considered a mental disability. Autism is not a mental disability. Autism is in fact a neurodevelopmental. It affects motor function, learning abilities and verbal or non-verbal communications. People with autism may struggle with social skills and have difficulties performing simple tasks, but able to comprehend complex concepts.
b. Furthermore, 70% think autistic people have difficulties forming social relationships. Though many individuals diagnosed with autism have difficulties with social interaction, they can still have close social relationships. Taking Albert Einstein as an example: He was diagnosed with autism. He had a relationship with a woman whom he eventually got married with, had three children, and showed love and concern for …show more content…
Through understanding and acceptance, it is hopeful to create a better place for the autistic community, and for this, I urge you to make the effort to forge an inclusive society with the autism community.
b. For better understanding and knowledge of autism, you can read the booklets about autism in which I have just distributed and it contains essential information that could possibly help make a change.
c. It all takes a few minutes of your time to internalize the information. Together, we can create an inclusive society for people with autism. Conclusion
I. Understanding and accepting people with autism, and more specifically, my sister, really does make a difference in her life.
a. From yearning acceptance from her peers, to having a group of friends from church who are understanding of her condition, and accept her as part of the community. This is the group of friends whom she calls as part of her family.
b. She looks forward to attending masses every Sunday morning and weekly Friday bible studies, and comes home every time sharing positive experiences with her peers.
