Persuasive Speech On Concussions
Hey everyone! I hope you all have been enjoying your rotations so far. It sounds like some of us have been a lot busier than others this week. I’ve really been enjoying my rotation thus far, my preceptor and his assistant are hilarious, and so it has made this transition a lot easier for me. My mornings begin at 7 with treatments, and then I usually get a break and come back around 1 for afternoon treatments and to cover football practice. On average we see around 40-50 athletes per day ranging from minor overuse injuries to traumatic acute injuries. Surprisingly there have been a lot of concussed athletes this week so I’m becoming quite familiar with the concussion protocol and IMPACT testing. I probably saw one of the worst cases throughout my years of being an ATS on Friday night during the football game. …show more content…
On a more positive note my preceptors have literally thrown me right into the mix of things. They pretty much have given me free range on what I am allowed to do that includes: taping, evals, rehabs, documenting each injury along with their rehab protocol for that day, even making the decision to hold someone out from practice. Furthermore I have even been given what they suspect to be an ACL/ Medial Meniscus tear, we are still waiting on the results of the MRI, but for now I get to do rehab pre-op and post op once we determine the extent of her injury and schedule her surgery. Although I am a little nervous I’m thrilled to have this opportunity and finally put everything we learned in class into

They had many genres that I found interesting including documentaries about war and terrorism, different conspiracy theories, what it is like behind the walls of a prison and even on different people who I found interesting including a well-known artist called Bansky. Eventually, I decided on a Frontline documentary called A League of Denial: The NFL’s Concussion Crisis.…

What do you think when you hear the word “concussion”? I’m sure you think, like most people do, about a football player getting a head injury in the game. That’s what I used to think about concussions, until I got one, and trust me it was not from a football game. I just finished up my first semester as a freshman at Kutztown University and I was home for winter break. I was in the car with my best friend pulling up to an intersection at a red light. It was three days after Christmas, so it was already dark outside around 5:30 P.M. We waited for the light to change green, I looked both ways like they taught in the Driver’s Manual before I proceeded to cross the intersection. And there it was, a car speeding through a red light and hitting…

In week six my main was to pick up where I left off in week four in teaching in the classroom. I obtained the necessary Power Points (PPT) to teach and started the modification process of the slides to update them a bit. The weekend was to be my first RN level clinical rotation and the area in which it was in is mental health. The NLNCC and BMS that fits with this week’s clinical is number two, five, seven, and eight. These core competences are what the best fit for the week’s adventure. On Monday it was a basic orientation day with handing out the syllabus and also a small amount of teaching in which I felt was best for my preceptor to do since she will be their long-term instructor. This also gave me some time to review and update my…

Throughout my clinical rotations, I have had the opportunity to see many areas of medicine- including but not limited to rehabilitation, medical-surgical, obstetrics, as well as pediatrics this semester. Additionally, I have had multiple opportunities to float into the emergency department- specifically this semester. Nevertheless, I can without a doubt say my time during my clinical rotation at All Children’s was by far my most rewarding experience. My time in the emergency center helped me…

Awe...I'm glad. And the only burden is what you put on yourself. You are no burden to me whatsoever! I may not suffer from anxiety per se, but I have a slew of other hang ups and issues that make it so I can totally empathize. It's funny how mood can make one perceive things. In my first email I was trying to be super reassuring. I would not want to make you feel worse. But I know what it's like to be in a bad head space where nothing seems to make things better. I am also not going anywhere so get that out of your head.…
