The policy I have chosen to focus on is the Federal Speed Limit. This is a policy that involves national, state and local involvement and I will try to show how each plays a part in this issue.…
In the statistics I read, I found that in every category there was “speeding too fast”. Obviously that is a problem in Utah. In my experience with drivers, I have noticed that many people speed and don’t even realize that they are doing so. I think that speeding is a problem because so many people die from it. On the page it stated that “15.2%” of people die from speeding and that “14.7%” of teens die from speeding. I will admit that it is shocking that those percentages are so high. I didn’t expect that many deaths from just going to fast in a car. It has brought new light into my mind that people need to be more aware of how fast they go.…
Speed limits are a must for traffic control, for safety in neighbor hoods and for avoidance of collisions. Accidents are unintedtional and unforeseen, but result in personal injury or property damage. When driving on the roads, it is important to follow the posted speed limits. The speed limits were picked for a variety of reasons. One of the most important reasons is that the legal speeds are considerably safer than higher speeds. Traffic control establishes a set of rules and regulations that people rely on to help avoid collisions and other hazards. With almost 160 million motorists and 3.8 million miles of public roads in the United States, traffic control on the highways is an important aspect of daily life. Without the control of speed there would be more fatalities than we already have now. Speed limits should be obeyed. A motorist going too slow could cause an accident. When everyone is traveling at the speed limit, a car comes up going 40 mph; if you break everyone will, too, perhaps causing a collision. Motorists depend on traffic control to avoid collisions and travel safely to their destination. According to a report published by the Governors Highway Safety Association, speeding and aggressive driving are hampering efforts to reduce the fatality rate further. In 1999, speeding was a contributing factor in 30 percent of all fatal crashes, and 12,628 lives were lost in speeding-related crashes. The economic cost to society of speeding-related crashes is estimated by the NHTSA to be $28 billion per year. Speeding…
If your child was walking home from school you would want a piece of mind to no they are safe. If it wasn’t a speed limit law a lot of children and pets would be in danger. Image If you where a senior citizen walking your dam and an idiot speed past, you wouldn’t like that not even a little. You have to think of others when you drive.…
Speeding in residential neighborhoods can be dangerous especially because someone could be walking across the street or the drive can lose control of her car. As a new police recruit, I would inform the driver that she was driving at a high rate of speed and I inform her of the speed complaints that have been reported in the neighborhood. I don’t know exactly how fast the driver was going; therefore I can’t issue a citation. But, she will receive a warning and if she continued to drive fast the next time she could be arrested for reckless driving and her car would be towed. I would tell her to get her car checked out by a mechanic because next time she will receive a ticket and I will be patrolling the area.…
Why buy an American made vehicles you ask? I’ll tell you why because buying American made vehicles creates American made jobs. Everyone knows that American made vehicle’s make a distinctive sound. Take for instance the Ford mustang and the Chevy corvette. Who doesn’t like the sound of these vehicles or design? Speeding is against the law for a reason; it is extremely dangerous and almost always plays a part in vehicular accidents. It leads to death in numerous cases, and that can cause an enormous weight on someone's conscious. Most speeding is done on main highways where a person generally has chances to pass other vehicles. This is especially life threatening when someone is on a high traffic interstate and their rushing to get somewhere. People end up going too fast and not checking all their blind spots. These mistakes have lead to costly tickets that they end up not being able to afford, or even the death…
Speeding is a factor in 31 percent of all fatal crashes, killing an average of 1,000 Americans every month, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which estimates the cost to society of speed-related crashes to be more than $40 billion each year. Speeding is a problem not only on freeways, but also on local streets. Many commuters opt to take surface streets, thinking they can more efficiently…
Everybody makes choices every day. It could be something basic like what colour of suit should you wear, or something major like should I put on a seat belt. I hold the opinion that all of these choices have an impact on our lives. I hope all of you who are listening to this speech today make the bigger choice of wearing your seatbelts in your day-to-day travelling. The rate of deaths has been on the rise, and this has concerned me. This has initiated my urge to do this research. Therefore, I have credible material and information on this topic.…
Drunk driving is a serious problem in our country that must be taken seriously. It's estimated that approximately 30 people die each day to alcohol-influenced traffic accidents in the United States alone. With statistics like that, it's no surprise that police take every measure necessary to intervene--including the use of checkpoints. However, the use of these checkpoints is under serious question lately.…

Attention Getter: I would like to start my presentation off by telling you all to ask yourselves a series of fairly straight forward questions. I want you to take a look at you’re, any hand and ask your selves “Who’s hand is this?” Do the same with your other hand, and now both legs and your arms if you would like. If I am not mistaking the answer to all your questions are mine right. They are your hands, legs, and arms. What I am trying to get through to you all today is that your body is your body and that a person should be able to profit of his or her own body if done in a safe and controlled way.…
Each year numerous lives are lost due to careless and irrational driving. The disregard for safe driving has been a predicament to Queensland for years. For many years? police have relied heavily on speed cameras, breathe testing and heavy fines as a deterrent against unlawful drivers. Over the years fatality rates have increased, so Queensland Transport has composed a series of safe driving campaigns. On many occasions the transport department informs and advises the public about the importance of responsible driving. They propagate safe driving through the various channels of the media. Their safe driving campaign is now using effective propaganda aimed directly at speeding; drink driving and tired and reckless driving…
