is too late for America and the damage can not be reversed.
The NFL promotes a culture of domestic violence. The NFL treats domestic violence cases with little to no significance and it is truly disturbing. For example Ray Rice, hit his wife and she became unconscious and then dragged her unconscious body into an elevator. What punishment did Rice receive? An astonishing two game suspension. Meanwhile his wife will be scared from this event forever. Roger Goodell, NFL Commissioner, has given out longer suspensions for smoking pot and DUI’s. Josh Gordon received a one-year suspension for marijuana use (The NFL Needs to Take Domestic Violence Seriously). The NFL does not see domestic violence as a serious problem and more like a joke. The NFL needs to be stopped they have already create too much damage
The NFL makes cities in poverty pay for new stadiums they do not need. Families that can barely provide for themselves are paying for that new stadium. A study by Taxpayer Protection Alliance showed that in 60 percent of the cases studied, poverty rates increased and median household decreased in areas where stadiums were located (NFL team owners win while taxpayers foot stadium bills). Eighty-six percent of the Colts stadium was payed for by the expenses of taxpayers which gives the teams spending money for the management and their players. The leftover money was used to buy a condo for Kimberly Wundrum who was the mistress to Colts player Irsay. His mistress died of an overdose in the home owned by the Colts (NFL team owners win while taxpayers foot stadium bills). If the teams paid for their own stadium there would be a lot less harm and could help the struggling families. The NFL, is a great league that forms America, for many families football is everything to them, that is how many families connect watching NFL football.
Is watching people getting their lives destroyed a fun family activity? This is one example of a victim of the NFL. December 2012 Jovan Belcher shot and killed his girlfriend and then killed himself (Strong reactions on football player's murder-suicide). Why though? Jovan Belcher, had it all; a girlfriend, playing in the NFL as a starting linebacker. Why would he do this if he was living the NFL dream? I will tell you why, after the autopsy there was evidence of Chronic Tramatic Encephalopathy or CTE in Belcher’s brain (Strong reactions on football player's murder-suicide). This tragic, shattering event would of been prevented, if the NFL believed and not shamed the work of Dr. Bennet Omalu. When Dr. Bennet Omalu observed the brain of Mike Webster, former NFL player. He found evidence of CTE in his brain. The NFL tried to bully Omalu into retracting his evidence of CTE in football players saying it was flawed but Omalu received support from Dr. Julian Bailes, chairman of neurosurgery at the West Virginia University School of Medicine and a former team physician for the Steelers (Bennet Omalu). After decades of denial things finally changed March 13. NFL finally admitted that they believed football had a link to CTE (NFL Finally Admits There’s A Link Between Football Injuries And CTE). The NFL obviously has no respect for their players and when they withheld the CTE information from their players, it makes you think what else are they
hiding.
The NFL creates a tremendous imbalance of more harm than good. Is all the pain and suffering the NFL brings worth a few hours of entertainment? In my eyes there is truly no good in the NFL. They are greedy and have no compassion for the pain they create for the families that pay for the new stadiums, for the mothers who have sons that killed themselves and others because of CTE, and for the women who have been abused. America needs justice from the NFL.
