Specific Purpose: To inform the audience on the pros of attending school all year around.
Central Idea: Year around schooling provides many benefits to the students such as less summer learning loss, vacation can be distributed throughout the year, and families with child care can benefit from it.
Introduction
1. What exactly is schooling all year around?
2. Shorter Summer breaks mean students are less likely to incur summer learning loss
3. Vacation time can be more evenly distributed throughout the year.
4. Families who struggle to find a childcare benefit from it.

Body
I. What exactly is schooling all year around?
A.
Year-Round School restructures the school calendar, eliminating the traditional summer vacation and scheduling shorter, more frequent breaks.
B. A typical Single-Track calendar operates on a 45-15 plan, 45 days in class, followed by 15 vacation days. Summer vacation is reduced to 6 to 8 weeks and may occur at a time not convenient for family activities or vacations.
C. Present from the 1800s.
D. Year around schooling first appeared in urban areas, because they were not tied to the agriculture cycle.
E. The first towns that implanted YRS were Chicago, Boston, Washington D.C, Cleveland, and Buffalo
F. According to the National Association for Year-Around-Education, more than 2.3 million U.S public schools attend year around schooling in the 2002-03 school year.
II. Shorter summer breaks mean students are less likely to incur summer learning loss.
A. May decrease the number of students being served by intervention programs.
B. Research has shown that kids can lose as much as a “couple months” of learning in the summer.
C. And expert says math, more than reading is a subject in which kids are most likely to experience summer learning loss.
III. Vacation time can be more evenly distributed throughout the
year.
A. Makes it easier to schedule family vacations.
B. Gives the students more opportunity to regenerate more frequently.
C. May cut down on the need to re-teach skills after long summer vacations.
D. Allows teachers to use class time more efficiently.
IV. Families who struggle to find a childcare or pay childcare expensive benefit from it.
A. Families will not have to find a babysitter for the child in the summer.
B. Schools can offer year-around activities or sports.
V. The school system would be more likely that of other countries.
A. Provides students with the ability to have a more global educational experience.

Conclusion
1. Schooling all year-around will better your student so they are less likely to incur summer learning loss.
2. Vacation time for the family becomes evenly distributed throughout the year.
3. Families who struggle with finding a babysitter will not need one.
4. Students test scores will increase with more instructional time.
