Some of the most debated Phantom of the Opera topics on the Web are as follows. Raoul or Erik (the Phantom), who is superior to the other and who did Christine Daae truly love? Would The Phantom have given her a normal life the way that Raoul could? Who should Christine have ended up with? Although popular opinion tends to be in favor of Raoul, Erik is the right choice. Of course, the goal in answering the first question is to explore the ways of how each man loved the beautiful, young and enchanting songstress, Christine Daae. Raoul de Chagney, the youthful Baron of France, expresses his love for Daae in a romantic, emotionally controlling technique. It is said that the two were childhood sweethearts, but that they had not seen each other since their early teens. Even so,

It is evident that Raoul would provide Christine a more opportunistic life. He could give her the love she needed, adorn her in beautiful dresses and jewels, supply her with queen-like living situations, and bestow upon her many children. Nevertheless, it is not fair to state that The Phantom, notoriously reclusive, would not try to give Christine the same opportunities. In the last scene of the musical, Erik sings to Christine with intense emotion-at one point practically crying the words: "Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime. Lead me, save me from my solitude. Say you want me with you here, beside you. Anywhere you go, let me go too! Christine, that's all I ask of you." The ending of the song implies that The Phantom believes Christine could save him, that he would have Christine lead him into the light of a normal life. She was his hope, his will and his courage. Overall, both men could have given Daae a conventional

Presented in the book entitled Catcher in the Rye, Holden Caulfield rebels against what life has to offer. Symbolized throughout the book, Holden shows his many dislikes towards the normal actions of a human being. The normal things that take place in society seem to irate Holden. Stated in chapter two, Holden says “People always think something’s all true.” Holden is explaining his frustration of the lack of education towards things people say and do. Holden tends to see the bigger picture, and the smaller details. Also stated in chapter two of Catcher in the Rye, Holden states “People never notice anything.” This also shows Holden’s great attention to detail. Holden notices the little things; he notices the little girl, later on in the book, that is having…

There are many beliefs on if man is born evil or if society is corrupts man. The belief that man is born evil is a monstrosity. The belief that man is born good and is corrupted by society though, is not. Two famous philosophers will agree. They are Jean-Jacques Rousseau and John Locke. "Rousseau believed that through a society people become evil"(Mr. Hughes). "Locke believed that everyone was born with a blank slate and that what you experience determines [if] you're good or evil"(John Locke). Man is born good, with a clean slate and society is what corrupts man to evil, through the media, social groups, and peer pressure.…

    4. At this part of The Catcher In the Rye, Holden is talking to Phoebe about his possible future careers, however his choice in career reflects Holden's affinity for all things innocent and his will to a protector of them. Holden remembers a part of a Robert Burns poem incorrectly as "if a body catch a body coming through the rye" this causes him to imagine himself saving children by "catch[ing] them" before they "go over the cliff." Ironically, the poem itself is about casual sex, yet Holden interprets it differently in a much more innocent manner. He believes that someone must save the children before they fall off the cliff. The children represent innocence and Holden wants to save the children before they fall off the cliff and enter into the pit of adulthood and a world full of phonies. As Holden himself struggles with realizing his own future, he does not realize that he also wants to be saved from the…

First Tybalt is one of the people who are responsible for the tragedy. Tybalt hated the Montagues already, and when Romeo showed up to the Capulet party, Tybalt overreacted and got angry at Romeo and that made him angry and resulted in killing Mercutio (I, i, 55-96). Lord Capulet said, don’t do anything to Romeo, but Tybalt didn’t listen because he was too angry for Romeo even being at the Capulet party. Also If he had just little kindness in his heart, Mercutio and Tybalt would’ve lived and Romeo wouldn’t be banished (III, i, 112-128). This resulted it in Romeo’s banishment, and in the end, his death, along with Juliet. Romeo’s banishment led to Friar Lawrence’s plan and Friar Lawrence is also responsible for their death from his own Plan…

Online, physically, or verbally you can be a victim of being bullied. You don’t have to keep things as they are. The question is how to handle the situation (Do you attack the bully and become the bully yourself? Or do you ignore the bully and pretend all is well?) What you do is speak up and ask for help. What benefits are received for taking away someone’s free will and right to choose without causing a botheration? There will be great things that come out of censoring and destroying what a person wants to express but, forevermore there will be away for people to speak what they do so desire. The freedom of expression and choice can also help make the world a better place because people might share and choose things that others would not have, and it can create a diversity of ideas. In the novel The Giver by Lois Lowry, shows what can go wrong when people aren’t given the right to speak and be different. The Giver is a book about a boy named Jonas in a utopian society he doesn’t belong in, when he gets assigned a job to receive all the past…

I enjoyed reading this book by Gaston Leroux because of the way he made Erik, The Phantom, out to be. Erik was driven to murder and scare people who got in his way of getting to Christine. “'He (The Phantom) had his deaths head and his dress-coat, just as when he appeared to Joseph Buquet!'”(15). Because Joseph Buquet was near Erik's home, could have almost found Erik and taken him away, Erik had Joseph hanged in one of the old and abandoned scenes near the lower portion of the opera house. Call me crazy, but I like the fact that Erik is a murderer yet can be the sweetest gentleman when it comes to his one and only. It makes Leroux's novel “his”. Christine said “He would commit murder for me”(124). Erik is not necessarily human, with his deformities and all, but he feels love just like one would and does all the crazy actions that love coaxes you into doing. Erik can't be compared to other characters, in my opinion. Gaston Leroux made Erik, Erik. He is no doubt my favourite part and character of The Phantom of the Opera.…

Lady Olivia’s attraction appeared to be heterosexual because of the way Viola presented herself, and Orisno’s attraction was homosexual because of his love for Cesario. When the truth was revealed, the labels were switched; although, Lady Olivia had already moved on to Sebastian. Charles further proves the different sexualities by stating, “The representation of homoerotic attraction in Twelfth Night functions rather as a means of dramatizing the socially constructed basis of a sexuality that is determined by gender identity” (122). Neither Orisno, nor Lady Olivia knew the truth until the end so their feelings can only be fit into a category based off the information they had. Shakespeare decision to include such an intricate love triangle…
