Critical Thinking Paper Self-evaluation 1.
What is your topic? The continuing decline of CD sales, along with rapid growth of music downloads signals a new era of innovation in music.
What are the possibly different main claims/positions related to this topic? Internet is greatly affecting music industry around the world. Rapid growth of technology is causing the changes in the world. Availability of music download programs and websites are declining profits of music artists even though it helps artists get more fans and be publicly known (my claim)
What is your position regarding the topic? I think that we cannot prevent the inevitable, the new era of innovation in music industry cannot survive without new technological advances, and therefore I stand for internet music download applications and websites even though it may harm music industry. CD sales are declining and changing just like vinyl records and cassettes 10, 20 years ago.
What “evidence” have you offered to support your claim/position? Have you included your survey results? By researching the internet for availability of music download websites I have noticed that evidence can be seen everywhere around the world, I have used internet blogs and peoples responses about downloading music and most of them are voting for downloading music. I have included the conclusion of my survey to support my claim.
Put your claim/position and “evidence” through the “Scientific Method” and “Proving a theory” steps. Are there any steps on which your claim/position and evidence do not measure up to the examination? If so, what can you do to make them more acceptable? I think that my claim can be supported by statistical data and by the evidence of website users from “thepiratebay.org”, “isohunt” and programs like “utorrent”, “mediaget”. I can use data and percentage of people from looking at number of seeders, leeches on torrent downloading programs and I can see number of websites available to
