Philamena's Guintion In The Kingdom Of Icebirds
In the Kingdom of Icebirds, lived Philamena and her mom, Frost. Philamena was pure white with a tint of blue. Her wings glistened like ice crystals in the sun. Philamena was a cheerful icebird. She enjoyed exploring the Icebird Kingdom. Sometimes she and her mom would take a stroll around the kingdom. Frost was ice-blue, with a coat of thin, transparent, feathers. One morning, Philamena was getting ready to start her day. “Remember to finish your breakfast before you leave, Phila,” said Frost serving her two pancakes with maple syrup. Then Frost served herself some pancakes, and sat down beside Phila. “These pancakes are delicious,” said Philamena when she finished her pancakes. When she had finished her pancakes, Frost said, “Remember, you …show more content…
When she looked through the window for the fourth time, she saw glimpse of orange. The orange dot moved closer and closer revealing the silhouette of a bird. Philamena dashed down the stairs and threw open the door. “Flare?” she called squinting at the orange silhouette. “Philamena?” called the silhouette approaching the house. “What are you doing here,” asked Philamena. She hesitated, then asked, ”Would you like to come in?” Flare nodded, and Philamena ushered her in. “Oh my,” said Frost, “Are you a firebird?” Flare nodded. “Phila, could I speak with you” said Frost. Then she turned to Flare, “Please excuse us for a moment.” Frost and Philamena stepped out of the room. “Phila,” said Frost, “You know that you shouldn’t be friends with a firebird. How many times have I told you this?” “You never told me anything about that,” answered Philamena. Frost paused then said, “I told you this …show more content…
“Philamena, why are you playing with a firebird?” she whispered. “Oh, she’s my friend, Flare,” said Philamena. “It’s just that firebirds aren’t allowed in the Icebird Kingdom,” said the icebird lowering her voice. “Oh,” said Philamena, “Who are you, anyway?” “I’m Ice, your mom’s old friend,” said Ice. “I’m Flare,” said Flare. “Nice to meet you, Flare,” said Ice, “See you later!” “Bye, Ice!” called Philamena and Flare. After Ice had left, Philamena said, “Let’s go explore the cave!” The two birds flew over to the cave that they had been to earlier. Philamena looked around her. “The whole cave is covered in crystals,” she remarked. “And it’s shaped like a huge dome,” added Flare. “We can call this cave ‘Crystal Dome’,” said Philamena, as the two birds wandered deeper into the cave. “Look at this crystal,” remarked Philamena, reaching over to the crystal, “It’s blue, and it’s shaped like a flame. It’s very smooth.” “Really?” asked Flare, reaching over to feel it. As soon as both birds’ wings touched the crystal, the crystal began to glow. Then a flame appeared around them, and they

Introduction. In this experiment the mass of zinc on galvanized iron nails was calculated to determine the appropriate price that should be charged to coat a nail with zinc (galvanize) it. The effectiveness of gasometric and gravimetric analysis were assessed by carrying out both methods mathematically using values determined by this experiment, and then comparing these values using their percent differences. The mass of zinc found on each nail can then be used to determine how much it should cost to galvanize 100 nails considering zinc cost $2.86/kg.…

When he got to school it looked the same on the outside that it always had. Rufus pushed open the doors at Searingtown School and yelled “I’m back!” All of his friends ran over to hug him. He went down to the office to get a tour he thought he didn’t need because he remembered every single solitary thing about this place. While the tour was going on everything going on was a blur. He looked left, right and left again, admiring the changes the school had made. “Wow” he sighed. “Is there a problem Rufus?” the tour guide asked. Rufus answered, “When I was here the wall paint was all chipped, there were broken windows and holes in the walls.” “Oh ok, well that concludes our tour and this door on your right is your first period class.” The tour guide replied. Rufus walked in and sat at an available seat at the back of the class room. He opened his notebook and took notes even though he didn’t understand anything that was going on. By the time 5th period came around it was time for lunch he was starving. All of his friends called him over and asked him to sit with him. Momma didn’t make him a big lunch because they didn’t have that much food in the house and then needed to split it 3 different ways. Allison who used to have a big crush on Rufus sat right next to him. Mitchell and Charlie sat across from him and Christina, Alisha and Sammy sat around them. When the bell rang he went to his locker and when he got to class he looked out the window and saw the same car that followed him to school. The only person he thought of was Simon. “Come on, Rick – come on, Deb,” I whined. But Rick mimicked me and the same day that I asked him to wear shoes he came to the diner table in only his swim trunks. My mother didn’t notice, nor did my sister, as we sat to eat our beans and tortillas in the stifling heat of our kitchen. We all gleamed like cellophane, wiping the sweat from our brows with the backs of our hands as we talked about the day: Frankie our neighbor was beat up by Faustino; the swimming pool at the playground would be closed for a day because the pump was broken.…

“Ugh!”, he grunts from how large the suitcase is. “Will you be able to carry that, Scottie?” she says, her face, worn from time, twists with concern for her son. “Of course”, he laughs. “Okay, if you’re sure.” She says as she opens the metal gate to the front yard. They slowly walk through the cracked pathway until they reach the steps to the porch. Beatrice opens the sturdy door with her keys. “Honey, I’m home!” Scottie yells into the empty living room. “Must you do that every time you come inside the house?” She says fondly. “Of course, I must.” He says as if she should already have known the answer. While they were talking, Alice and Jake, Scottie’s younger siblings, heard his announcement and excitedly ran out of their room and down the beige stairs. “Stop making all that racket!” she admonishes her children. “SCOTTIE!” they yell out enthusiastically. “You’re home!” Alice states, full of wonder that her big older brother is finally back where he belongs. “Well, it’s obvious that I’m home unless I’m an imposer who’s secretly an alien”, He jokes, winking at Alice. “I definitely didn’t miss your humor,” Jake lightheartedly says. “Oh, come on, I tell the best jokes”, Scottie says smiling. “Yeah right, in your dreams”, Jake jokingly teases. “Leave your brother alone for right now. He had a long trip and he’s probably exhausted.” Beatrice gently tells to her…
