I chose St. Rose Philippine Duchesne to be my confirmation name. I chose her because she inspires me to follow God, even when it’s tough, and also not to give up. Throughout her life she was dedicated and perseverant. When she was young, her mother and her mother’s sister lived together, so she was always around lots of kids. When she got into her teenage years, her dad put her in a convent to study and be more polite. At first, she did not want to go, but she eventually gave in. After the first month, she loved it, and would spend all her free time praying. Then, her dad started to get worried, because he wanted her to marry eventually. He took her back home. After a year of introducing Rose to suitors, she was miserable. One day, a missionary came to town to talk about his travels. She went to see him,…

Montaignes view of human nature versus modern civiliziation is human nature these days puts a burden on modern civilization. He feels like society and or human nature supresses humans right to do what they wanna do and forces them to confrom to the ideals of society and doesn's allow them to think how they wanna think or do what they wanna do because they feel like they are tied down and cant become free. He uses the concepts of barbarism, wildness, and blindness to make his view clear in a couple of different ways. For example, he uses the concept of barbarism to show how human nature makes us unable to be the barbaric people we were meant to be andn it just shows us that we need to be able to live life the way we want to without any rules…

Tapsilog is a popular Filipino dish commonly served for breakfast. The term is coined from combining the Filipino words tapa, sinangag, and itlog which are the main components of the dish. We chose to show how tapsilog can be geographical because we want to emphasize that anything can be geographical, and tapsilog, a common Filipino dish is usually not the kind of product that people would associate with geography. As mentioned, tapsilog is made up of tapa (dried meat), sinangag (fried rice) and itlog (egg), but it doesn’t stop there. Each ingredient is also made up of even more ingredients that we have traced to have originated from and traveled through different places in and out of the country before it reaches our plates. This further supports the idea that tapsilog, like every product, is geographical.…

The sum of all the different species of animals, plants, fungi, and microbial organisms living on Earth and the variety of habitats in which they live is called Biological Diversity or also known as the Biodiversity. Scientists estimate that upwards of 10 million—and some suggest more than 100 million—different species inhabit the Earth. Each species is adapted to its unique niche in the environment, from the peaks of mountains to the depths of deep-sea hydrothermal vents, and from polar ice caps to tropical rain forests.…

Introduction DAMATH, a patent-pending mathematical board-game invented by five-time national awardee Jesus L. Huenda, is coined from the popular Filipino checkerboard game of dama, (or lady in Spanish) and mathematics. It started in a Sorsogon National High School class in Sorsogon, Philippines and its popularity spread quickly and resulted in the first national DAMATH competitions held at Legaspi City in 1980. He initiated this competition with the support of the Science Foundation of the Philippines. He hopes to introduce DAMATH to secondary math teachers as part of a requirement of his work as PASMEP Fellow at Curtin University / WACAE, Western Australia. Thus if this material, or part of it, is used commercially or otherwise (except for classroom instruction purposes), permission must be secured in writing from him. By the way, DAMATH is part of the inventor’s position paper, Non-formal mathematics education: the Sorsogon National High School experience, delivered at the 1978 First Southeast Asian Conference on Mathematical Education, PICC, Manila; 1979 and 1980 MTAP national conventions at Legaspi City and Quezon City, respectively. 1981, 1983 and 1988 Philippine Expositions, PHILTRADE, Manila; conference, Mandurah, WA; Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers 13th biennial national conference, Hobart. Rationale It is becoming a growing classroom practice in many school subjects, including mathematics, to use games to promote the understanding of concepts and skills. This practice is supported by child psychologist Piaget and Inhelder (1969) and Kohlberg (1969) who are convinced that affective, cognitive, and social development strongly influence one another and develop along parallel lines. There are data to support this statement. Thus, the use of socially interactive mathematical games in…

This genus was named in honor of the explorer and scientist, Louis Antoine de Bougainville (1729 - 1811), who made the first French voyage around the world, and for whom the Papua New Guinean island is also named. Known for their brilliant floral displays and ground-covering power, bougainvilleas originate from the tropics and subtropics of South America. Members of the Four O'clock (Nyctaginaceae) Family, the 14 species in this genus are scrambling shrubs that can become vigorous climbers in favorable conditions resembling the climate of their native habitat…
