The nursing profession has impacted my ethical beliefs, perception of care, goals, and declaration.
Only one word comes to mind when I think about the perception of care in the nursing profession, servant. I believe the nursing profession is similar to what Jesus was doing on the earth. When Jesus walked on the earth, he served people from all over the world. No matter if they had a sexual disease, blind, broken, etc. Jesus still cared for them with love. “I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the injured, and I will strength the weak, and the fat and the strong I will destroy. A personal goal of mine involves visiting every country to witness the different cultures and atmospheres. Being in a different country that is completely opposite from my norm makes me appreciate the world God created. Most people only appreciate the things they are willing to see, but with traveling it forces you to appreciate the little things people around the world do not have. A strategy to obtain this goal leads me to my professional goal. Once I have completed all my schooling, I plan on becoming a missionary Nurse Practitioner. In my eyes, I am including the two things I love most, traveling and helping people. My strategy to achieve these two goals is simple, never stop learning and always push yourself. After visiting 4 different countries and talking to the right people, I have connections all over the world for work. The only thing to do now is complete my schooling. The timeline I have created is a straightforward 5 to 10 year plan. Within 5 years, I should be working as a RN while getting my masters on becoming a NP. In 10 years, I plan on living in a different country as a missionary NP while also having the chance to visit a wide variety of countries. The only thing that is not included in my timeline would be a family. I wish not to plan about my future family because God’s timing is always perfect and he will bring them to me when it is right.
