6102013 Monday 8:00pm Physical Therapist Assistant Program ESSAY 1. What do you believe a physical therapist would do on a daily basis? As a Physical Therapist Assistant, I believe I will be gaining complete handson experience everyday and be kept up with multiple aspects of my job field most of which includes hospital work, childcare, sports training and lastly, elderly care. To be able to interact and converse smoothly would be something crucial especially when being exposed to so many people who have been injured or distressed. I’m convinced the work effort put into the field of study will be fairly intense prior to becoming a PTA. I also know that PTA is growing popular in the demand of jobs. As far as home care goes, I believe that there’ll be a lot of travelling and paperwork involved day to day because of the hands on experience with athome patients and health notes being taken for patients. 2. Why are you interested in pursuing a career as a Physical Therapist Assistant? What appeals to me the most, is the experience, interaction, and care for new people all the time. I like that there will be a completion of an Associate of Science Degree after all hours and courses being finished. There is a yearly income of $40,000 for entrylevel college PTA graduates, the yearly income ranges from a wide variety of pay from $40,000 to well above $85,000 for the most experienced PTA. I also like that there is an immediate chance of me getting hired as an intern shooting straight out of college. Above all, the thing that sets this particular career apart from others is being able to choose whether the job is fast paced or slow paced depending on the branch that suits me best. I’m hoping to pursue and complete all of the above mentioned. 3. What are your experiences with Physical Therapy I’ve had a good amount of situations involving the work of Physical Therapy. My main experiences with physical therapy are being cared for after hyperextending my MCL during football…
Does anyone have a hard time choosing what career or job which they really want to do in the future? I personally have two jobs that I am considering right now: actuary and physical therapist. Actuaries basically manage risk. They help organizations plan for the future and protect themselves from loss. Physical therapists use a variety of techniques to improve mobility, relieve pain and prevent permanent physical disabilities in their patients. The reason why I am choosing between these two jobs is very much related to my past experience. Since my youth, I was influenced by my elder sister who is very good in mathematics. Due to her influence, I have a big interest in mathematics. I wish my future job will be related to mathematics, which is why I considered becoming an actuary. In addition, I love to watch dramas that are related to medical education. In fact, I just finished watching a Hong Kong drama named ‘On Call 36 Hours’. It is a medical drama. After watching that drama, I have the desire to help those injured patients to recover from pains and injuries. Although many might think these two jobs are very different, they have very much in common.…

If everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedom that is set forth in the Declaration, disabled people should not be robbed of their rights. However, they are still devalued from conducting common tasks which puts them at the bottom of the priority list as an employee and even so as a friend. In search to solve this problem, according to “The Disabled” by Bender, D. on July 26, 1990, President George Bush signed the ADA into law that serves and protects people with disabilities. This law prohibits discrimination against the disabled by employers and required commercial establishments, public accommodation, and mass transportation be made accessible to disabled persons (Bender 17). When the law was signed, new doors opened for the deaf and hard of hearing culture for a better opportunity in gaining equal rights. President Bush appointed four titles to protect deaf and hard of hearing people. In “The ADA and Deaf Culture” by Tucker, B. Title I, prohibits both public and private employers from refusing to hire or promote an individual because of his or her impairment and requires employers to provide reasonable accommodations for applicants or employees who are deaf or hard of hearing (Tucker 28). If a deaf or hard of hearing employee can pass the essential part of the job qualification, he or she is protected by the ADA to be hired. Also, the ADA prohibits employers to discriminate disabled people in means of recruitment, job applications procedures, pay rates, and promotions. The second title, Title II, “Requires all state and local government agencies to make all of their services accessible to individuals with disability” (NAD 22). This ensures people with disability to be able to participate in services, programs, and activities who can meet the essential eligibility requirements. Such places that must make these accommodations are schools, libraries, police and fire department, public hospitals, jails and prisons, motor vehicle departments, parks and…

While the word `professionalism' usually refers simply to the quality of being professional, in truth it does not describe a single quality, but rather encompasses many different attributes that together define what a professional is. Throughout my experiences in various physical therapy settings, I was fortunate enough to observe therapists who have not only served as my role models, but have also taught me what professionalism really means. Not only excelling in their duties as physical therapists, every person I've been lucky enough to work with has been kind, accountable, and extremely committed, all of which are traits I have tried to emulate in my work as a volunteer and physical therapy technician. While I observed various displays of professionalism in different physical therapy…

Nurse Practitioners (NP) are becoming an important part of today’s health care system and their role has grounded in the disciple of nursing. Many studies proved the effectiveness of NP as a primary care provider compared to physician. These studies also indicated that care provided by NP in primary care settings brought improved patient satisfaction. This improved satisfaction is related to certain approaches NPs used in patient interaction such as, openness, connection, concern, respect, reciprocity, competence, and time. Kings theory of goal attainment can be used as a framework to guide NP–patient interactions. According to King’s theory “nursing is defined a process of human interactions whereby the nurse and patient each perceive the…
