One dissimilar result we found was fact that 47 out of 77 respondents who took the survey said that Pit bulls are misunderstood by society. In addition, most respondents said that “dogs develop aggressive behavior through their upbringing and training”. At the same time though- most participants said that Pit bulls were the most aggressive dog out of the group of breeds, in addition to claiming that they are untrustworthy around small children. These responses are surprising because while the public admits that Pit bulls are misunderstood by society, they do not alter their perceptions to view them as being less aggressive or dangerous. Question Effectiveness We believe that our questions worked quite well at extracting the valuable and precise information needed to draw conclusions about the public’s perception of Pit bulls, as the underlying reasons behind these impressions. What worked quite well was the proper placement of the questions in order to lead the participant down a sub-conscious path which avoided personal biases when it came to uncovering one’s true opinion about certain dog breeds and their behavior.
