I know that the President's Leadership Academy is a very high esteemed honor to have. It is a scholarship that many students apply for and only a few dedicated students receive. I know that the PLA works to make students better citizens, through community service, interaction with peers and higher education. I also know that the PLA was formed to prepare BGSU students to lead with integrity and make meaningful contributions to society during their student years and in their professions and communities as alumni. I want to be a scholar in the PLA because I want to be the best person I can be, in school and out. I also want to better my community service skills so I can serve in all I do. If I was to be inducted into the PLA I would feel honored
and special to know that someone sees the capabilities I have. If I was apart of the PLA I would exhibit good values at BGSu by, always showing my personal growth and never being afraid to ask for help or give help when needed. As a part of the PLA I will choose to take part in the many opportunities given to me. I will demonstrate PLA values while at BGSU by working my hardest to expand my horizons and learn more about about leadership. I will be a good valued student and be as culturally aware and accepting as i possibly can. I will be accepting to other people, and myself. I want to be a part of the PLA because I know that I am capable of living up to all the requirements and standards. I also know that when a student is apart of the PLA they also work with the Association of Leadership Educators or ALE.
I think that the ALE is a very wonderful association and I'd be proud to work with it and be apart of it. I know that the ALE can expand a student's networks and it can help a student learn more about the field of leadership education, both very important things in life. I am also interested in being apart of the PLA because I know I can do it with a bit of work. The four core values of the PLA are integrity, service, credibility, and learning. I already exhibit those in my everyday life. I exhibit integrity when I keep all promises I have made or when I turn back the extra change a cashier might have gave me. I exhibit service in my everyday life, whether I am helping at my dance studio or helping with a service project for National Honor Society at school. I also consider myself to be a credible person. I have established my credibility by being confident and consistent, by being real and honest, and by being open, empathetic, and accountable. Lastly I also consider myself to constantly be learning. I love to learn more about the world around me. I have traveled to Spain and I plan to travel to England, France and Italy in the summer of
2018. I spent a lot of time learning about the Spanish culture. I love to learn life relevant knowledge in school. I also just never want to stop learning, especially in a world like today's. Knowledge is power. I plan to look towards the future with hope. I will have my eyes on tomorrow and my feet on today. Making a difference one day at a time.
