Place of significants
Place of special significance Place that is significance to me is India, especially my grandparent’s house and the school that I attended when I lived in India at my grandparents house for several years. When I was five years old my parents sent me to study in India to learn about the traditions, food, culture, religion, and languages. While I was going to school in India I lived at my grandparent’s house. The house I lived in with my grandparents was a big nice two story house located in small village called Naugajja in Punjabi, India. The house it had six bedrooms big back yard. While living at my grandparent’s house I learned many things like traditions, foods culture and family. The most interesting tradition to me was the grandma’s traditional way to welcome the guests. It was the most unique way to welcome people I had ever seen. She would have wick made out of cotton wool lit with fire and placed in the in a bowl. A coconut filled with water, flowers, and incense was placed in a tray and she rotated the tray in circular motion in front of guest. She said the purpose of performing this is to ward off evil effects.it was really cool to learn a new tradition. Every Sunday morning my grandma made some Indian style home made tortillas they were called pranthas in Punjabi they were stuffed with the mash potatoes and spices and made with butter on a pan like pan cakes they tasted good. One day after I ate my breakfast on Sunday morning I asked my grandma how she makes them than she showed me and learned how she made them. It was hard to learn how to make them at first but after lots of practice I end up learning. After that almost every Sunday I learned something new to cook. Every Sunday afternoon my grandma would cook something special for lunch and would also teach me how to cook. One of my favorite dessert my grandma usually cooked on Sunday afternoons for lunch was called the (Zarda) Indian sweet rice dessert. These sweet rice are

Significant Place is a paper that was designed to show one’s ability to use descriptive and figurative language. This essays main purpose was to let the reader know about a significant place by using descriptions about what you see. In this essay I really focused on showing the reader what the surrounding were and not telling. My significant place was Otto’s Place in Galena. I chose this place because this is where I have spent the last four years working. I know a lot of the place and have been in there so much describing it would be easy. I picked Otto’s Place: A Hidden Gem, as the title because many people who have found it have been so impressed that with their food and atmosphere and wondered how they have never been there before. In…

The lackluster response to the Annapolis meeting might have been repeated the following spring, but for the violence that erupted in Massachusetts over the fall and winter. To Hamilton, Shays' Rebellion was the direct and inevitable result of the weak national government. The attempt by Massachusetts to pay off its war debts on its own had resulted in a crushing tax burden, especially for farmers unable to produce the required gold or silver currency. The consequence, in Hamilton's mind, was predictable: lawless mobs, assaults on property, and anarchy.…

I remember the one day, it was early in the morning and I was going to my basketball game. We stopped to help this lady get home by giving her a ride. Then once we dropped the lady off at her house we drove off and had to stop for some deer to cross the road. Once the deer crossed the road, we were finally off to the game, we made it to the game with time to spare. With the time we had to spare I had some biscuits and gravy, and i devoured them in seconds and had some orange juice after.…

This past month of July has been a handful! The summer of 1863 is definitely a time I will remember for the rest of my life! Yesterday, my siblings, my mother, and I fled away from Manhattan while father stayed back and secured our home and salvaged whatever he could. Many things in our house were wrecked and damaged from the violent draft rioters. Perhaps it was because only white men were drafted. If anything, I believe that they shouldn’t be taking all of their anger out on us black folks. It's not our fault! This was one of the worst rioters the country ever saw! Today, we arrived into Providence, Rhode Island with only our garments on. But, we weren't the only blacks that left. Thousands of blacks quit New York and left! Some folks even…

The art of writing is a unique skill that requires the writer to have great flexibility and be open to improvement. Some may consider themselves a “perfect writer”, when in reality, no one is, and will ever be. Writing is a process that requires one to continuously build on skills learned in previous situations, applying new techniques and strategies to future writing projects. Different settings require different writing styles, and with that being said, one must be willing to change their writing skills to suit the requirements of their current setting. In the following essay I will reflect on past writing assignments, identifying my best and worst writing courses, strengths and weaknesses as a writer, and my opinion on why writing may or may not be beneficial to me throughout my career.…

Back then, I was very picky about what I ate. I only ate white rice, chicken nuggets, and pizza, which were all very bad for me. But now that I am all grown up, I am not as picky than I was as a child, and I feel more in touch with my culture now. I am Salvadoran, which people mistakenly think I am Mexican or some other race, and one food I love from El Salvador is pupusas. They are like a very thick tortilla stuffed with beans, pork, and cheese and you put hispanic coleslaw on top and pour red sauce on top of, yet I only the pupusa by itself. I remember my mom tried to make pupusas and it wasn’t like the ones we had at Salvadorian restaurant because this one had love. The first time she made it was awful, it was very dry and the beans were leaking out off the tortilla because she did not have that right corn flour to make it with. Though the food was really bad, all I remember was having fun and making a mess in the kitchen. But the next couple of times, they turned out a lot better. Also recently during Christmas, my mom has been making my great grandmother’s turkey recipe for that last five years, which consists of twenty tomatoes! I love this recipe so much that I wish one day that I could replicated.…

There is a sweet story related to Mung rice noodle. When I was in the primary school, my mother usually got up half an hour earlier than me to make Mung rice noodle as my breakfasts. She looked at me mysteriously: “ if I make the same flavor all the way, you will be bored at breakfasts, that is not a good habit”. At that time,…
