Places In Lord Of The Flies
“Lord of the Flies” takes place on a deserted island in the Pacific Ocean. The year isn't specified, yet it is implied that it takes place in the 1950s amid a nuclear war. When the story first begins, a group of English boys assemble on a beach after their plane crashes. The land is quite new to them and surely enough they realize they’re on an island. Since the boys are isolated, they get all excited at first. In order to see the whole island, the boys climb on top of a mountain and act as if they own the place. Now that everything is in plain sight, they see that the beach they had previously met up on is protected by a coral reef, bordering one side of the island. The shore is covered in palm trees and the island has a dense forest which
contains many fruit trees and an abundance of wild boars. On the opposite side of the island, there is a big rock that is almost separated from the rest of the island that looks like a fort. In any case, the reader should not be fooled by the feeling that all is well in this place. There's significantly more to the island than its calm appearance reveals. They go to an opening, and now that they are high over the entire island, they energetically push a stone that falls through the air and "smashes a deep hole in the canopy of the forest"
