Next is the Plagiarism Checker. This program lives up to it title by checking for plagiarism. Plagiarism is easiest defined as stealing or copying someone else’s work and trying to pass it off as your own. Plagiarism is a very serious offense in my opinion. This program is specifically designed to keep you from plagiarizing someone else’s work. Once you submit your paper to the Plagiarism Checker it will provide you with feedback to let you know if any portion of your paper has been plagiarized. If it comes back identified as plagiarism it is our responsibility as students to either submit a reference paper citing the original author or rewrite that portion of the paper in original words.…

To evaluate my work I use the tools in the CWE, The Grammar and Writing guide that is there to help me develop my writing and communication skills. Also the Plagiarism paper checker to verify whether my sources are correct and I have not copied someone else idea. There are labs that you can access to help you with your sources if you’re struggling on a particular assignment and live services that you can attend via the WebEx and teleconference for about an hour. You have to commit yourself to doing the research and then utilize the tools within the library to assist you in determining the relevancy of your sources, by associating the main idea of your source to the main idea of your paper. The plagiarism checker is a great tool to use in determining the text of your paper has not been copied or structured in a way that reflects another person idea. To determine whether or not your source is reliable depends in part on two key factors, the author and his/her credibility in their field. Credible authors will cite their sources so you can check the accuracy of what they have written and how they support their viewpoint. Also, are their views of a neutral nature, and in agreement with your subject, and do they coincide with your topic and main idea? Using the internet as a source can be tricky because it is difficult to determine who the author is, anyone can submit or change the content. Keeping to peer reviewed text is the most reliable, because they undergo a strict evaluation process. The library and its sources has been a useful guide for me in my recent assignments and no doubt in future tasks. The checks and balances that it provides can and will assist you in submitting a quality paper and hopefully giving you an A paper. It is important to remember the effort and work you put in to writing a quality paper benefits you in the long run and strengthens your…

In reading the essay “Should Educators Use Commercial Services to Combat Plagiarism” the authors gave some conflicting opinions on educators using plagiarism services. I chose to focus on this topic because so many of my fellow learners/peers are not clear on plagiarism and how plagiarism services work. Plagiarism is the intentional use of someone else’s work without giving them credit. Services like Turnitin detects plagiarism. Some educators suggest that concern with plagiarism should be more about teaching students to appreciate the development of knowledge, acknowledge intellectual contributions of other scholars, and represent the process of building on existing knowledge in academic writing and less about violating rules and copyright…

Hey friend, I am currently going to University of Phoenix. I am just getting started really. We are learning about some of the resources to help us succeed here at school. Some of the cool stuff we have is this program in the online library. It is a paper review service that allows us to up load papers for review before we submit them. One of the things is does, is tells us about our grammar and punctuation, as well as our spelling errors. Part of this program will check for plagiarism for us. Plagiarism is when you use someone else’s work without acknowledging them. There is also this program called River Point Writer that helps format our paper to how they need to be set up. This helps me out because I have such a hard time setting up MS Word for that format. Then we have a place that can help us prepare for math classes even before we are in a math class. I think I am really going to use this thing to help me overcome my anxiety in math and to get to know it a little bit better.…

As an Axia student of distance learning, I am aware and familiar with using Axia’s educational resources. One of Axia’s resources is the Center for Writing Excellence (CWE). I believe that one of the most resourceful tools in the CWE is the plagiarism checker. Here, I submit my papers before posting them and they are checked for plagiarism and grammatical errors. I have learned that there are so many ways to actually commit plagiarism. So, knowing that, I use the plagiarism checker until I feel that I am more knowledgeable of all the rules of plagiarism. I also use the grammar guide frequently. I believe that one of biggest faults in writing is in grammatical errors. The CWE also offers sample papers, essay development, and a thesis generator. I haven’t used those often but I plan to with future classes. Another resource is the school online library. This library has three different databases you can use to search for items. They are EBSCOhost, Gale Power Search, and ProQuest. Here I can find articles, journals, papers, etc. related to any search I conduct. The possibilities are endless. It is crucial to learn how to navigate through this online library. Nevertheless, if I ever feel lost, I can always ask the librarian for help. There is also the ability to save…
