On January the 11th 1923 the French and Belgium soldiers invaded the Ruhr, and over the next week they captured the industrial cities of the Ruhr. This occupation was chosen because at the time the Ruhr was the industrial heartland of Germany and their intentions was to claim the goods from the factories because of the reparations Germany had denied them from.
