The social issues that came after world war 2 is discreetly shown in the movie. This is though the movements that are going on during this era that are also major types and themes in the movie. Women’s rights , racism and the introduction of the term teenager are all products of the aftermath of world war 2. Another piece that can be related to this is the painting that Bill Johnson made of the people burning the books can be related to the things that Nazi Germany had done during the war such as the burning of the Torah along with many Jewish scriptures as part of their plan to get rid of many jewish culture all together. This place was David ideal haven and was a utopia in a sense for the young man. This was further from the truth because the town of Pleasantville was not as perfect as he thought of it to be.
