On September 18th 1892, the Pledge of allegiance was published for the first time in a magazine, called “ The Youth’s Companion.” It was written to celebrate the 400th year anniversary of the discovery of America. Francis. Bellamy and James B. Upham were both editors at the magazine but Francis Bellamy was the author of the Pledge of Allegiance { Pledge of Allegiance Fast Facts,2017}.
