1. What thoughts go through David’s mind as he gets his uncle’s head in his gun’s sight? When David saw his father and his uncle Frank were standing on a riverbank, and they seemed to talk angrily, he was hiding to hear their conversation. David anticipated that his father and his uncle were talking about Marie's story. However, suddenly David saw his uncle was threating his father, so David took his gun and he wanted to kill his uncle while David put his gun toward Frank's head. David thought at that moment his father would be relieved, and problems they had would be gone if he killed Frank, yet David put his gone down when he saw his father and his uncle were shaking their hands, and walked together.

However, Marie did not treat herself and her way was to deny his disease. Gail at that moment told Frank that Marie's fever were down, and she seemed better. Then Frank said a fever could change to be serious, and Frank insisted to look over Pneumonia disease because it can cause death. Wes felt that he wanted to cry because of Marie situation and he was trying to find Marie's family because Marie's family did not answer Frank's call.
5. What did Frank attribute Marie’s death to? Does David believe him? What do you think caused Marie’s sudden death?
When Frank was talking about Marie's death in the kitchen with Wes and Gail, Frank said that Marie's death was because of her disease Pneumonia, and Marie did not take care of herself. However, Gail said that Marie's fever was down , and David knew that frank did something to Marie in the day before Marie's death, so Marie died suddenly. In my opinion, Marie died suddenly because Frank did something to her because Marie was getting better , and her fever was getting down, so Marie's death was shocking.
6. On page 84, Len, who has served as a deputy under both David’s father and grandfather, explains what it means “to be a peace officer in Montana.” What does it mean? Does Wes follow this

David wanted to tell his parents what he knew, but he felt he was like a fish. David felt he was like a fish because he had a secret when everybody thought Marie died because of her disease. David acknowledged that Frank killed Marie because Frank did something to her, and David did not tell anyone.
8. What did David tell his father that he saw? Why does Wes ask David so many questions about it?
When David could not sleep at night of Marie's death, David was thinking about Marie and Frank, so he decided to tell his parents. While David was in his parents' room, David told his parents that he saw Frank entered their home in the day before Mari died. His parents were shocked, so his father asked David several questions because His father did want to hear and believe it. Therefore, Wes did not want to punish his brother as a sheriff.
9. Who else may have seen Uncle Frank? Why does this disturb Wes?
At that day, when David told his father about Frank , Wes was afraid of someone else saw Frank entered their home because Wes had to punish Frank. David told his father that Len might know about Frank when he went to Len's home, and Len seemed to knew about Frank.
