Police Shooting Narrative
Being the sensitive person I am these stories were really bothersome. No one deserves to go through such a gruesome death. I think about how their day was going before they encounter the police;were they seeing their kids, going to work, hanging with friends? In each case the situation escalated quickly and unnecessarily. I think about how the officers felt after the shooting took place. Did they feel regret or remorse? Did they wish they did things differently? Those questions trouble me after watching the videos and seeing how the police carry on as if they didn’t take someone's life. Seeing these news stories time after time is both hurtful and upsetting. Our country should’ve reached a point by now where these types of actions are completely

In the “Radley Balko on the 3 Worst Cases of Police Abuse in 2011” video there were three cases of communication and unethical decisions made by police officers. All three cases were different, but two suspects in the video were shot fatally by police. The first video that was shown was a Utah SWAT team. The officers were seeking the roommate who was pulled over by the police earlier in the day. The officers received a tip that there was an extreme large amount of drugs in the home, so a raid was commenced. When the police entered the home, the roommate came out of the back of the home, who thought the home was being burglarized and charged the…

Sandra Bland was a BLACK LIVES MATTER activist. This reminds me very much of Eric GArner who was arrested for selling cigarettes on the street. He was pushed to the ground (much like Sandra Bland) and was put in an illegal chokehold. He yelled “I can’t breathe” eleven times. The police you excessive amount of force for a small crime that lead to his death. It seems that more and more Black people are being arrested for minor things or nothing at all with brutal force that is not necessary. It is important that this article is shared with more people because this force and these deaths need to stop. There is no excuse for them. the police are supposed to be protecting everyone, they are supposed to people we trust. Police should not be using excessive force. BLACK LIVES…

Once the shooters were caught, some of the tension was relieved. Even though some of the tension was relieved, some people still had the killings of innocent people in the back of their minds. Since someone had committed such an awful crime, they thought that someone else would commit this crime in a similar style. It took time before kids were out playing in the park again and people were back to their normal everyday activities. Because of this shooting, more cars are stopped and searched, because of small traffic violations to ensure the safety of others. More cameras have been put up throughout the city so cops can look at what happened after a crime has been committed, and hopefully bring the criminals to justice. During the time of big events, there are also more roads closed and blocked where all cars are stopped and questioned. Crimes like this also make it harder for the everyday citizen…

    • 3 Pages

It seems like every time the news is on, one of the headlines is about a police shooting. Media coverage can go on for days, weeks even sometimes years covering these kinds of cases; however, most of the media’s coverage is based on the victim and their backstory. What seems to be left out of the news report is how the officer is handled by his own department following the devastating event. In this case regarding Detective Casey, it is as simple as his department failing him, in their lack of communication and empathy.…

Four officers were charged with the merciless beating of Rodney King. For the first time the world got to see what it was like to be a victim of brutality? King suffered extensive and painful injuries, to include head and face trauma, skull fractures, and nerve damage. The recorded video was powerful evidence against the worst type of police brutality. This event not only proved that some police officers abused their power but also reinforced the distrust between some minority communities and law enforcement. People from all walks of life and different races all waited to see what would happen to the officers involved. As many people predicted if the officers involved were not found guilty of assault and other civil liberties violations…

I do feel that the cops causing wrongful deaths to not only African American kids, men and women but ALL people should be punished. We should not feel that it is okay to kill each and every cop that we see. It is not okay to teach our kids if a cop pulls them over they should act out of character or kill the cop before they are killed. Have we failed to realize that these cops are often fathers and someone's son? To the cops that's causing wrongful deaths, have you failed to realized that you may have possibly murdered a child/children father and someone's son? Violence is not going to solve anything that's going on in this world. If officers decided to give up there occupation who would protect your family? If we did not have local authorities…

Its crazy how a person can live with themselves after killing children and people and even being able to plan this attack for more then half a year. The scene that really impacted me was when the fire fighter said how when he looks at his own child he sees the kid that passed away in his arms, just crazy how it affects everyone not just the people and the families that were in the building. What really amazed me is how they where able to track this suspect down, and how well the different communities helped on making it possible. It took to days to stop this man and all it took was a car without a plate really shows that these people are not as smart as they think they are.Terrorism is everywhere we live in a free country and that makes it hard to detect terrorist, but we should never let our guard down because its here and it will always be here. This act comes to show that terrorist will do what ever it takes to try to get there point across and they do not care who it hurts. I do believe that anyone who commits a mass murder like the one in Oklahoma should be killed right away to set an example that the American population and government will not mess around with this kind action and will do what ever it takes to stop…

This is a country where many unarmed civilians have suffered injuries or been killed at the hands of police officers. Drastic changes are needed to solve the issue of police brutality. Such excessive force by police officers is very disturbing to the community. People around the country are fighting for a country where law enforcement treats all communities with dignity, employs restraint on the power police officers, and only use the necessary force to maintain the community’s safety. Over the years there have many cases involving police brutality such as the cases of Rodney King, Timothy Thomas, and Eric Garner. Many people feel that nothing has changed with the issue of police brutality since juries still acquitted police officers, cops get their jobs back, and brutality happens again. But change has occurred and some things have become better as a result of it being publicized and causing public outrage.…

The use of force and injuries has become more prevalent, "While the empirical literature on police use of force has grown over the past four decades, limited attention within this body of work has focused on injuries sustained by suspects and officers during these encounters. The deadly force literature has examined the patterns and characteristics of police shootings and resulting fatalities, which represents analysis of the most extreme injury to suspects In addition, other researchers have examined the patterns and characteristics of encounters that result in police deaths in the line of duty, however, has been directed at the examination of non-lethal injuries to suspects and officers. One time Abby went to Washington D.C to be close to some family members. Since they were in D.C they decided to go visit the White House. When they went up to the White House they saw several guards with big arms, lots of weapons, and a thing in their ear. They were guarding the White House lawn. Her cousin decided to go up to one of the guards and ask them a question. The question was if the windows were bulletproof. When he asked that, all of the sudden the guards started to pat him down in search of a weapon. Once they were done with that the guards started to ask him questions like why did you ask that question? Were you planning on shooting at the White House? Well Ryan apparently answered one question wrong and so he got taken to jail. His eyes grew wide, his jaws dropped, and he had tears in his eyes. All for asking a question. Just one questions! While he was in jail some interesting things happened to him.…
