However, do an administration with 80% males, 92% Christians and 80% whites have ability to solve feminist issue, religious debates and racial problems. The Washington Post releases the new report of composition of the new Congress. Although, through a historical chart, we can see a more diverse congress, it grows too slow to keep problems related to different types of people in balance. A recent example about Asian-American’s protest was about an Asian NYPD police Peter Liang’s dereliction of duty because he accentually shot the African American person. But the point of the protest is that there is no any charge on his white partner and he may receive a death penalty. This may be the greatest activities of Asian-American’s activities to politically protest administration’s discrimination. Two similar stories but different perspectives, both are police killed a black people, show the difference and severe condition American facing. For a pursuing peace and keep quiet race, Asian American were not politically active and they are trying to fight back and find spaces for living and rights. To conclude, we saw two similar stories happened on Asian-American and African American and both cause severe social influence on people’s normal stereotype of races. Racism is evident in many communities across the world and many nations exhibit this notion race superiority. In the current case study, “ Conflict in South Carolina” we see how the death of a young black, African American stirred up an entire community on allegations of a racially motivated murder. In New York Times, Supreme Court states that “things have changed dramatically” which is gives reader a prompt that racism still plagues everybody. It is really hard to eliminate completely the fear of racism in this country. This point emphasizes that we cannot forget how important it is to treat each other accordingly as we live in a multi-cultural community. People will not be able to forget the racism if we still bring it in to our everyday life. In addition to racism, government should create laws that protect people not to being racism each other because this is really a sensitive issue in this country. For instance, government has law about sexual harassment. The same law should be applied to racism to help people to respect each other because they know that there is law to protect this kind of harassment.…

    • What have been the political, social, and cultural issues and concerns throughout American history? According to the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF) (AALDEF, Voting) in New York, which boasts the nation’s second largest Asian population at more than 800,000, there has never been an Asian American elected to city-wide, state-wide, or national office. This is a startling and perilous fact. The stereotype of Asian Americans as a model minority has obscured the continuing barriers that prevent Asian Americans from participating effectively as candidates or as voters.…

They ceased to be the subordinate group, and no longer disadvantage. Asian Americans have been active political through collective action and recent through seeking elective office. They continue to embrace both their unique identity as well as border Pan-Asian identity. South East Asians present in the U.S. are from waves of refugees, and just disperse in to larger populations. Everyday, stereotype is used in the society. Sometimes, when people use stereotype on other people, they don’t even recognize it because it’s so common and is ignored by the society. It’s a way to judge people through their common believes based on ethnicity, gender, skin color, appearance and language of the people who are being judged. For example, when people see a Vietnamese woman in her 20’s, 30’s and 40’s just migrated to America, they would assume that she will be working in a nail salon and flirt with some rich guys to get married with. Being stereotype is difficult deal with, and it’s really offended and hurtful. “The Myth of the Latin woman: I Just Met a Girl Named Maria” by Judith Ortiz Cofer and “Mother Tongue” by Amy Tan share some common and different stereotypes that they had to go through. In the story “The Myth of the Latin Woman: I just met a Girl Named Maria”, Judith Cofer wrote about her experiences being stereotyped as a Latin woman. In “Mother Tongue,” Amy shared her personal experiences being stereotyped with her language’s barrier. Even though the two female authors shared the similarity for being stereotyped by the society, they faced different situations on the way they were stereotyped.…

Asian Pacific Islander Americans have long since been considered to be minorities in America, and as such, we are, at times, underrepresented in American politics and so forth. This being said, that doesn’t mean that we should allow ourselves to be underrepresented in this prospect. In order for us, as a group, to overcome this, we should be voting and participating more when it comes to politics and civic engagements. Even though we are called a minority, that doesn’t mean that we are small in number or insignificant. We should begin involving ourselves more in politics and taking part in more civic engagements so that we can improve our lives.…

The concept of stereotype is defined as “a belief that associates a group of people with certain traits” (Kassin, Fein, & Markus et al., 2008, p. 133), which can influence a person’s thinking process and perception of others as well as the world. Stereotypes are related to other concepts, such as prejudice and discrimination, which strengthen the distortion of people’s reality. Another component of a stereotype includes the concept of outgroup homogeneity effect which is the “tendency to assume that there is greater similarity among members of outgroups than among members of ingroups” (Kassin et al., 2008, p. 135). The concept of outgroup homogeneity effect refers to a misconception of others caused by people’s tendency to overestimate the similarities between outgroups and to underestimate the similarities within ingroups (Kassin et al., 2008, p. 135). The purpose of this research is to show the depiction of stereotypes through the movie Gran Torino, and to reveal the reality of those stereotypes through a New York Times article by performing an illusory correlation between the two sources.…

Racism is a global problem that has existed throughout the history of mankind. Despite the different kinds of measures taken against racism including African-American Civil Rights movement, Anti-Apartheid Movement, Hate Crime Laws, or bans on any racism manifestations, it continues to be a constant concern. For some people, it is a vague concept, because it reveals itself in different forms. For others, it is simply based on unreasonable believes and hate. So racism, after all, became a label that is used for humiliation, based on hatred of the individual or even entire ethnic groups. I will try to address the problem of racism from several points of view taking into account the areas in which racism exists and manifest itself; to prove that…

Economic inequality in the United States has increased tremendously throughout the past decades and has consequently led to many social conditions that negatively impact the lower and middle class. The unequal distribution of income and wealth is primarily due to the capitalist government economy that deregulates markets as well as globalization and technological advances. Political inequality is similarly another consequence that results from the economic disparity that further affects democracy and political representation of many Americans. This likewise leads to the creation of social movements, in which many unprivileged Americans seek government attention to overcome the inequality that exists amongst the socioeconomic classes.…
