Each religion has many different views on life. For example Buddhism teaches us that life brings on constant changes and someone can always find a way to make him or herself or a situation better. It shows to view everything in a positive way rather than negative. Hinduism is one of the largest religion practiced today, though unlike Buddhism and Taoism, Hinduism believe in multiple God and each God teaches a different view. Hinduism believes in reincarnation, which is why they don’t kill cows or elephants. Taoism out of all 3 is the smallest religion and is a Chinese religion that practice living life with pure harmony leaving anything negative out. Which I honestly think is something that is very similar between all three, they all believe…

    * Read? Thinking critically when reading has helped me keep an open mind about what I am reading. I know that when I sit down to read something now that I can’t have a closed mind, I have to look at it from every angle that I can. I have learned that I can ask question and try to find the answer in the answer when I am reading. I feel like I can pick up on some of the feeling that the writer had when they were writing the article, or the book that I am reading. For example with the discussion question for week 8, dealing with Terri Schiavo I got to think outside the box, it was a hard…

Critical thinkers maintain a healthy skepticism. They examine definitions of terms, weigh premises, consider evidence, and decide whether arguments are valid and logical. When making an important decision in your life, it can be extremely helpful in thinking critically about certain situations. For example, sex or sexual intercourse is something all people should take seriously. Sure, when people think about sex, they tend to think more on the positive side of the effects of sex. However, there is much more to take into consideration: are you young? What would happen if you were to get pregnant? Are you in high school?…

I do not think that colleges have moral obligations to help students become ethical individuals because for one, there are a lot of people who attend college from different backgrounds, and with that comes different upbringings. I believe that colleges don't teach ethical morals because it would contradict what was taught to the student by their family, friends, and other social and religious influences. I also believe that colleges don't teach ethical morals because there are a lot of careers that require for you to have no type of emotional attachment in your field of work. For example, you're a licensed doctor, and for the first time, a small child dies…

The concepts of critical thinking and perception are both gaining increasing importance in the world today. Critical thinking allows one to understand difficult concepts in a manner that is clearer and more defined. One can more readily understand those concepts if they employ critical thinking. In all portions of everyday life, a person is expected to make independent judgments. Those judgments are based on experience and knowledge. Without the ability to think critically, every situation that a person comes across would have to be considered in isolation from all other situations. When a person encounters a problem that is a new one, he or she may be able to use critical thinking to solve those problems. One manner in which a person can develop critical thinking skills is through using them in all situations. By doing this, a person can discern when to use certain skills. One way of using critical thinking is to review material and analyze that material. There are many times when critical thinking is an important concept. It is important in the classroom. It is important in the boardroom. It is important for not only the student, but also the CEO. The mother or the teacher can apply critical thinking. Doctors employ critical thinking, as do nurses. Everyone employs critical thinking at one time or another whether or not this is even realized. This critical thinking needs to be channeled as well as focused. While critical thinking is important in all occupations, it must begin in childhood. Teachers must help their students to develop critical thinking modalities. Critical thinking helps considerably in problem solving. Without critical thinking, one must rely on old and outdated information. All businesses, from the simplest to the most technologically advanced, need critical thinkers. Critical thinking also helps in decision-making. Both problem solving and decision-making abilities are vital to a prosperous business. Persons who are…
