When looking at the population growth of a LEDC there are common factors that appear when looking at the death and birth rates. For example when looking at the country Tanzania in Africa, you can see that there is a certain pattern. In Tanzania the birth rate is 34.29, which is a very high ranking. This is due to different factors access to contraceptives is very low and probably too expensive for the average inhabitant. Also the religion can play a huge roll in a reason why most inhabitants don’t use contraceptives. It can also be the culture that effects the amount of children each family has. Out side of the city parents want to have a lot of children for working purposes and retirement purposes. Finally because there is a lack of education in Tanzania most women are not informed about ways to prevent pregnancies. The death rate is also compared to MEDC much higher. In Tanzania they have a death rate of 12.56, this is also caused by numerous reasons. In Tanzania it is hard for the inhabitants to get good health care and be cured for infectious diseases and epidemics like malaria and aids. The poor nutrition in the country cause malnutrition and can cause a lack of vitamins and other illnesses. In Tanzania and most African countries there are a lot of conflict going on in the country that causes many casualties and a unstable government or corrupt government can cause many difficulties for the people. Also natural disasters may occur and LEDC’s usually do not have enough money to rebuild the country take care of the people and provide them with food.
However when looking at a LEDC, for example the Netherlands you see a different pattern. The birth rate in the Netherlands is 10.4. This is obviously much lower than Tanzania. This could be due to different factors that play a roll. In more developed countries many women have are equal to the men in most cases; therefore they have high paying and demanding jobs. That is why they have children later in life and have fewer children to be able to keep their careers. When having a child in a developing nation you need a high enough income to provide for the child and some people are not able to have so many children due to that. Also they are well educated and have easy access to contraceptives and have the income to pay for it. The death rate is also lower than Tanzania; in the Netherlands it is 8.74. This is mainly due to enhanced medical care, which is available for all the inhabitants. The Dutch are also all get medical care from the government. Also all citizens need to be educated till they are 18, unless they have a diploma. This makes sure that the Dutch are well educated and are able to create medical break troughs. When talking about the death rate you also can see that the infant mortality rate is 4.73. This is mainly due to the reasons that were mentioned before about the death rate.
To conclude the population growth increases in either MEDC or LEDC, the main difference is the how fast the population grows. In LEDC’s you see that the growth of the population grows for reasons like culture, education, income and lack of health care. When talking about MEDC’s the population grows slower and have other reasons for growing, for example enhanced health care. It is reduced by the high demanding careers and the income that is needed for providing for a child. In the end the population is growing all together at a fast rate and is probably not going to change.
