What I’ve learned: This is not my ideal classroom, but it is definitely a good fit. Any storage space is being used in the desks allowing room for futuristic holograms. My ideal classroom is even more futuristic than this, but it would be difficult to put on paper. I would say the greatest difficulty faced was getting a draft of a classroom that would satisfy myself. I set up my own requirements. 1. Futuristic to a point where it can be drawn 2. Teachers desk in center 3. A way to have a small group of students and/or a large amount 4. Find a way to store things without using regular storage furniture. I didn’t have much trouble except the times when my duplicated objects would not appear. I would actually have

Cultures provide people with ways of thinking, seeing, hearing and interpreting the world. Even if we all speak the same words they can mean totally different things based on a person’s culture. When a person must translate for understanding and to communicate effectively the potential for misunderstandings increases. Understanding behavioral and emotional constraints can also assist in the communication process. For example, teaching in a Title 1 school where the student population is mostly free and reduced lunches a teacher must remember that most communication must be basic and to the point. We cannot “speak over” the parent’s head or misunderstandings are a definite occurrence.…

The setup of the classroom had four round tables with six seats for the capacity of 24 students in total. The round tables were placed as a ‘U’ with the opening towards the front of the classroom. There was a colorful rug in the middle of the ‘U”, with the alphabet displayed on it. With the placement of the tables, it was very easy for the teacher and teaching assistants to walk around to help any student in need. The colorful area rug was designed for out loud reading activities and lessons. The class was very organized. All toys, supplies and materials were labeled and put into storage bins in the back of the classroom where anyone can easily access it.…

The classroom is nice and big and it’s easy for everyone to move around. Walking around the classroom everything is labeled, in the block area there are pictures of the shapes of the blocks and what shelf it belongs on. They have the art area labeled and everything is organized. The cubbies are at a height the children can take objects from, and the library has an area kids can sit down and there’s a variety of different books. “Teachers place books in an inviting, comfortable library area and in other places conducive to their enjoyment and use.” (Brederkamp, 2009, p. 167)…

I was placed in the infant room with babies 6-weeks to one year. The room was set up well. There were eight cribs and/or pack-and-plays aligned around the walls of the room with allowed for easy movement of teachers and crawlers. In the center of the room was a bright, primary color plat mat that the little ones loved rolling around on. There were also bouncers and jumper play toys for the kids to hop inside and have fun with. In one corner of the room was the changing table, kitchenette for warming milk and mixing baby cereal, and refrigerator for storage. There was ample storage space in the kitchenette and the entrances were blocked with childproof gates. Each child has a cubby to put their diaper bags in as well as extra toys, blankets, etc. I think that the room was just the right size for the amount of children in the class, and I think that it was set up in a user-friendly way so getting around was simple.…

Building a classroom that flows easily and allows the students to be productive in their learning environment is an essential part of being a teacher. The floor plan sets the mood, and the teacher sets the tone of the classroom. Without a cohesive plan that works well for both the students and the teacher, learning could become inhibited. As a teacher safety is of utmost importance, but I also wanted to make sure materials were accessible to promote a positive learning environment. I feel that I have designed a great floor plan that will be both functional for my students and allow me as a teacher to develop an inquiry based classroom with ease. I think my floor plan would work well with first through third graders, but when designing my classroom, I initially had second graders in mind. The narrative that follows will take you through my thoughts and feelings about the arrangement of each section of furniture and how it contributes to the flow and accessibility of the students to the teacher, as well as the students to materials.…

The set up of this classroom is different from the traditional classroom. It is located on the second floor of the main building. It is a large open space which is separated by dividers which shape the different classrooms. The students have small individual desk which are grouped in fives. The teachers desk is located in the back of the classroom and surprisingly it does not have a computer. There is a flat panel television on the wall which is turned on in the morning to give the morning school news and sing the national anthem. At times this television…
