Poshmark Case Study
Barbara Regala works at Poshmark, an app and website for buying gently used and new clothes. Poshmark is at an interesting intersection of fashion and technology, which is a rapidly growing area. I asked Barbara what sets Poshmark apart from other apps and websites in the same area as Poshmark, such as Mercari or ThredUp. She immediately mentioned the "love aspect" of the app and the fact that there is a huge sense of love and community on Poshmark and that those things matter more on Poshmark than other apps like Instagram where image is the most important thing. About Poshmark Barbara said, "I've never been on another app where love is an actual thing."
I asked Barbara about ethics at Poshmark and one of the most important ethical issues

The most rewarding and enjoyable part of Barbara's job is working with her colleagues. Her immediate team works really well together and working, talking, and sharing ideas with them is extremely rewarding. For Barbara, the most challenging part of her position is filtering down new ideas to one idea since executing many new ideas at the same time is usually not possible. In her work, Barbara is constantly using business writing. Every project requires writing from emails to marketing or social media copies. I asked Barbara if her job allows for a good work-life balance and she responded, "Definitely, but I feel like that's a hard question because it depends on the individual." Barbara believes that good time management really helps with work-life balance and focusing on work on the weekdays and friends and family on the weekends is the best way to ensure good work-life …show more content…
I asked her what made her decide to go back to school for her Master's Degrees and she told me that, "Even though people don't believe me when I tell them this, I love school." Barbara also told me that the decision was easy given how much she enjoyed her undergrad experience and how she missed being a student. Also, Barbara is the type of person who loves being busy and managing time across many different things. The reason she picked an MBA and an MS in Business Analytics is because she wanted to learn new things outside of what she can learn in her current position. Her current position does work with data somewhat but has more of a focus on creative marketing. Barbara felt that learning more hard business skills and how to work with data was important and worthwhile skills to help advance her

This is a decision that I regret to this day. My grandmother did not raise me to be to a “quitter” and I disappointed not only my family who was so proud and happy for me to get out of the neighborhood but also disappointed myself. I feel that by going back to school will increase my financial situation in two ways. The first way is by having a degree in business I can obtain various positions in the workforce that require my expertise, rather than be confined to just one particular job. By obtaining my degree I feel that it will place me in a situation to have a career rather than just a job.…

A book that I would not have normally picked up, Beautiful Boy, by David Sheff, has recently broadened my horizons. This book is about a father’s journey throughout his son’s drug addiction and alcoholism, yet so much more. While reading this book, I pondered my own life, my own path. This book is an insight to the emotional trauma inflicted on family members of an addict.…

My main reason for going back to school is for better career choices and the chance for something better. Which is currently very limited in this area. Mainly some companies that don't pay very much. That's why I hope this degree will open on a new career or something much better. Maybe even one day own my own business or some kind independent business agent. I guess the idea being able work by myself is very desirable. Not having to deal with the daily rat race, doing the same old daily grind and having the ability to achieve something much better for myself…

Each individual has his own reason for pursuing a graduate degree. Professionally, a graduate degree shows that the person has the motivation, ambition, and dedication to improve and thus strive to obtain a position in which he/she can apply and expand his knowledge base. Many perceive a graduate degree as a status symbol, an opportunity for advancement, or even a cause for more money. The choice to seek additional education after investing four years in an undergraduate degree shows commitment to learning and recognition of self-worth. I chose to pursue a Master’s degree for two reasons; to obtain a higher learning level of education and to eventually increase my annual salary. The first, and most important, reason for my wanting to pursue a Master’s degree is to obtain a higher education level. I believe that obtaining a graduate degree will definitely make me more marketable in the corporate world. My goal is to broaden my horizon beyond the technical world, unlock career aspirations otherwise blocked, and enhance problem-solving and decision-making skills. I am hoping that by pursuing a degree of higher learning, I will pick up enhanced skills that will enable me to be more of an asset to a team once I enter the workforce. I truly believe that without the knowledge, strength and…

We desire to remove the stigma of employees excelling at work but not at home or vice versa. “As emphasized by several researchers, managing work-life balance has become one of the most critical managerial strategies for ensuring employees' performance and organizational performance improvement” (Kim, 2014, p. 2). We will encourage balance through our “We Can Be Both” program, by applying this biblical command, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:33-34,…

The decision to return to school and pursue my MBA degree came after I after took plenty of time to think long and hard about my future. At one particular point in my life, I actually did not know what I wanted to do for a living. I was only concerned about making money and being able to live a comfortable life. To be honest, I did not truly have a desire to return to college after so many years of being out of school. However, I was not content with working dead-end jobs and having no place to move up.…

This reflective essay uses a theory based rationale demonstrating the use of the 5R framework utilised for effective reflective practice. I shall be reflecting on, critically analysing and reconstructing an incident that occurred between me personally and a healthcare professional through my three week stay in hospital during February and March 2014. The essay focuses on a comprehensive description of the interaction, thoughts and feelings of the communicators during and after the incident, reflecting on and analysing the interaction from a theoretical perspective. I will be using my knowledge of communication models and communication theory, identifying the needs of the communicators within this interaction, discussing the communication strategies used during the exchange, exploring the use of verbal and nonverbal communication, and explaining the factors that I believe influenced the outcome of the interaction and may have had an impact on the relationship between the communicators. Conclusively, I write about the effectiveness of the communication based on my analysis of it and I identify one strategy that was used, by the communicators, and one strategy that could have been utilised to create a more positive outcome.…
