A Parenting Contract may be offered as an early intervention to deal with emerging behaviour problems or after an exclusion of any duration. The kinds of misbehaviour that can trigger a Parenting Contract are set out in the Education (Parenting Contracts and Parenting Orders) (England) Regulations 2007. The trigger is behaviour that has or could have resulted in exclusion.
School/setting ABCs (Anti-social Behaviour Contract) are a further strategy that may be considered. It is a contract between the child/young person and the school/setting and South Yorkshire Police and/or the Anti Social Behaviour Unit, to adhere to a number of specific requirements aimed at managing behaviour. It is a voluntary agreement with the involvement of parents.
