Positive Effects of Music
There are different types of music that have positive effects on an individual’s life or lifestyle. An example of music that positively affects a person is gospel. Gospel music contains a very strong and powerful message in its words. This type of music uses personal experiences as a way to give people hope and meaning to their life. People turn these painful experiences into a testimony to help others deal with some of the same issues that plague them as well. In this music, the message is most often about how God has empowered these individuals to better themselves and take the negative aspects of life and turn them into something positive and meaningful. Positive music can encourage, strengthen, unite, and educate the world as individuals produce a more nonviolent, and healthy world that works out for everybody.
Listening to music has several positive influences on the brain. Music aids in relieving the mind of negativity. Soothing and calming music helps to relax the mind and put it at ease. Music can enhance one’s learning abilities. It improves reading skills, mathematical abilities, and emotional intelligence as well. Even young children who suffer from an attention deficit or hyperactivity can benefit in mathematical tests if they listen to music prior to taking tests (eMedExpert, 2011).
Music helps to improve memory performance improving one’s ability to recollect information. A certain song can be recollected by mentally playing the song. In order for music to be beneficial to learning and memory performance, music that does not contain vocal compounds should not be listened to at that particular time.
Music also helps to improve the learning abilities of children. Research has claimed that when learning to play a musical instrument, playing can positively affect the brain. Playing musical instruments can also help to improve how children learn and
