There are many positives and negatives of being a leader. A lot of it depends on your leadership style and how you communicate with your group. The biggest positive is probably that you are being inspirational to others. This is a great feeling knowing that people you have never met or maybe even people that live on the other side of the world might be reading about you or researching you and looking up to you, maybe even doing school assignments on you. This means that you can have great influence on people in ways you didn’t even intend to. If you are a leader people will tend to listen to what you say because you are in charge, this can also feel quite powerful.
Being a leader means you are at the top. This can open a range of doors for you and means you quite often get to meet other leaders and powerful people and possible make some good connections for future jobs, this can be a great experience. But even the greatest leaders in the world never stop learning, leading a group can open your mind up to new possibilities and teach you many things. And the knowledge you already had you can now spread around to other people and teach them or help them improve on things you know about.
Being a leader is the best thing you can do to keep you motivated. Knowing that everyone else is relying on you gives you that extra push to finish off anything you started knowing that you won’t only let yourself down but your whole group as well.
Control is another main positive of being a leader, it is much better to know that you can make the decisions about what’s best for the group rather than sitting back and taking orders you might not agree with. You can make sure everything is running how you want it.
