Positives and Negatives of Being a Leader
Section 2
There are many positives and negatives of being a leader. A lot of it depends on your leadership style and how you communicate with your group. The biggest positive is probably that you are being inspirational to others. This is a great feeling knowing that people you have never met or maybe even people that live on the other side of the world might be reading about you or researching you and looking up to you, maybe even doing school assignments on you. This means that you can have great influence on people in ways you didn’t even intend to. If you are a leader people will tend to listen to what you say because you are in charge, this can also feel quite powerful.
Being a leader means you are at the top. This can open a range of doors for you and means you quite often get to meet other leaders and powerful people and possible make some good connections for future jobs, this can be a great experience. But even the greatest leaders in the world never stop learning, leading a group can open your mind up to new possibilities and teach you many things. And the knowledge you already had you can now spread around to other people and teach them or help them improve on things you know about.
Being a leader is the best thing you can do to keep you motivated. Knowing that everyone else is relying on you gives you that extra push to finish off anything you started knowing that you won’t only let yourself down but your whole group as well.
Control is another main positive of being a leader, it is much better to know that you can make the decisions about what’s best for the group rather than sitting back and taking orders you might not agree with. You can make sure everything is running how you want it.
There are many different types of leaders but if you are a leader in a job then obviously a good positive would be that you are a higher rank and would get a much better salary.
However, of course being a leader isn’t for everyone. Some people really just do

To me, leadership is leading by example. My years in high school have shown me that the person who builds people up, and shows kindness is more of a leader than someone who commands and controls people. I strive to be this kind, caring person who others can look up to. As I grow older, I hope that by doing the right things, I can inspire others to do the same.…

Leadership is a lifestyle that I work on everyday, it’s an ongoing process and like anything in life it takes practice in order to become better at it. A good leader is someone who inspires others and motivates them to work hard, achieve success and accomplish a common goal not just for themselves, but for the better of the team (the bigger picture). Leadership is about action and commitment to the cause. Great leaders encourage others, coach, mentor and overall have a positive influence on people’s lives. My Officer in Charge at motor lifeboat Station Merrimack River, BMC Robert Craighead was someone that was very influential and instilled a passion in me to become an OIC. A leader is a person who represents the whole class and motivate them. I did not believe I was a leader. During my freshman and sophomore year of high school, I was a quiet spoken individual who listens to what others have to say. It was not that I did not have anything to say, but it was the fear of saying something wrong and others disregarding what I had to say. I did several presentations in high school that made speaking in front of people more easier. However, I was still the timid person who wanted desperately to break my shell but did not know how. A shocking moment had occurred when I had became secretary of Zonta Club. It was junior year and I was surprised to have been part of the leadership team. I was able to discuss my ideas and to speak with the members at ease. It was my breaking point. I was given a privilege to be part of something that made a change. I was not just the soft spoken person, but I was a leader…

When it is said to be a leader a whole bunch of qualities such as respect, teamwork, trustworthiness, etc. is to be expected. There are other qualities, such as to be unbiased, not boast, do not lie, not be ill tonged-no cursing-, deal with your own issues, treat others-mainly women- with respect, remind others how they are supposed to act, act the part you play within society, and do not be rude. In my opinion, leadership is more than just someone who can enlist the aid of others to accomplish a specific task. It is a characteristic and a lifestyle of a person. True leadership is not displayed on days we feel like it. It is a constant display of ones actions to accomplish tasks and set an example for others to emulate. A leader is someone who can be turned to in the absence of knowledge or direction and will either have the answer or know where to get the answer.…

Leadership is an important role in most, if not in all communities, families, and/or school. The role of a leader is that of a strong individual who looks at the big picture, who is goal oriented, and who is driven by a cause. In the community and family I am involved in, I take on the leader role. The management I provide has made a positive difference in the lives of others, including - but not limited to - my family and school courses. My leadership and services have made a major impact on my nine year old brother and fourteen year old cousins.…
