The economic was known as the Golden Age of Capitalism after 1945. The Washing Post showed the poverty rate went down from 19 percent to 11.2 percent after the War on Poverty by president LBJ in 1964. But the oil crisis in 1970s, US economic entered to the recession. Due to shortage in energy and demand, the companies fired their employees and created a high unemployment for the U.S society. The reform plan in 1996 was the huge change in the welfare system. The plan limited on mothers who is received welfare, and required them to search for work. The reform demonstrates the fight against poverty was possible. Their study also suggested that a new benefit programs should be provided to help men to increase in salary, so it could help them for the child support. They believed education also help in the fight with poverty. The government program such as No Child Left Behind focused on improving children’s education and skills they needed for success.
The poverty in had created a unique look to American society. Although the poverty is still happing, but it is possible to success in the fight with poverty. The government and humanitarian organizations are doing their best to help families to overcome the poverty, create an equal opportunity for men and women in workplace.
