Power Of Reality Manipulation
I desire reality manipulation. It is the ability to alter the truth and where universal laws no longer apply to the manipulator. With my skill, I would be able to control, create, destroy, or distort everything. Furthermore, I will accomplish my life goals that incorporate visiting Rome and seeing the Northern Lights. Using this power, I would cease complicated and overwhelming issues around the world, such as war, world hunger, and global warming simply by arranging the world in the most peaceful pattern. Not only that, but I would also wield this power for medical purposes; if a man has lost the ability to walk, I can change his situation, and give him a body that allows him to run. Another example is if another girl has heart cancer. Just by imagining a strong and active child, I could treat her a healthy body. …show more content…
In addition to that, I can aid my family and friends' needs. However, reality manipulation has a few disadvantages. Since it is such a perplexing and philosophical topic, using this ability means to walk in the dark, meaning that you will be using reality manipulation without much knowledge about it. Moreover, the demands of my service would be staggeringly high; consequently, I would be sacrificing my ordinary life. Since my power is able to perform actions other abilities might not, the demands would be immensely

“An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge” by Ambrose Bierce is a story set in the Civil War era describing the events leading to the execution of Peyton Farquhar. In the moments prior to his execution at Owl Creek Bridge, we are given insight into the mind of Farquhar, which ultimately proves to be an illusion. On the surface, or for a first-time observer, this insight leads us to believe these events as reality, when in actuality it is in fact an illusion on the part of Farquhar created as an attempt to escape death. Reality and illusion interconnect and until the end of the story, the audience is unaware of any deception in relation to the narrative. Farquhar’s illusion, as we see it, is reality.…

According to C. W. Mills, “social imagination is an awareness of the relationship between a person’s behavior and experience and the wider culture that shaped the person’s choices and perceptions. It’s a way of seeing our own and other people’s behavior in relationship to history and social structure (1959)” (OpenStax College, 2015, p.6). Sociological imagination is the ability to see individual behavior within the larger society and the impact of society over each individual’s private live. Therefore, personal troubles and public issues are very closely related.…

    Perception vs. Reality

    • 363 Words
    • 2 Pages

Perception and reality are two completely different ideas, they are accepted as they are understood and acted upon what is seen. Perception is how a person can see something whereas reality is how things actually are. For example, if you are driving and see the car in from of you, your perception would be that they are drunk driving but when they get pulled over by the police down the road, reality would say that the person was having a diabetic seizure. Most people have different perception but we all have the same reality. One person would think that someone is drunk driving while the other thinks that the driver is just messing around with his kids. In the cartoon, there is a man stranded on an island and a man in a boat approaching the island. They both shout out “I’m saved!” but in fact the man on the island is tired of being there and the man on the boat is tired of being at sea. They both have the idea that if they switch places they will be in a better position but will soon turn out to be in the same position as the other person. As I stated earlier, people have a different perception on certain things but the reality will always be the same. The meaning of this picture, in my opinion, is that people can see things from their point of view and act upon it differently than another person in the same position. They can have different thoughts, ideas, even actions but in the end they will end up doing almost the same thing. The man on the island is excited to go on the boat to try and get home but after being on that boat for a while he will realize that he would much rather on the island. The man on the boat approaching the island is excited to get off the boat but will soon realize he would rather be with the other person so he is not alone. The difference is what is real versus what is seen.…

Reality for me is lesson learned meaning experience of an outcome during an event or any situation in human life. Truth on the other hand is human action of any event or experiences. Nature of Reality

    • 1130 Words
    • 5 Pages

Reality is what you want it to be. Reality is a term that is used loosely, but comes in many different variations. There has never been or never will be one way to interpret reality, as it is built up of beliefs and values which vary from person to person. The true nature of reality is merely an illusion; it is the universe which exists in the mind. George Orwell develops this idea in the novel 1984 as he suggests that the true nature of reality is not defined by its validity but an outcome of society’s influences, and the boundaries of reality are constructed by the boundaries of imagination.…

    Power of Perspective

Perspective is something that every individual has and it is something that heavily influences the way that one thinks about their role in society. Without perspective it would be difficult to judge what an individual can and cannot do within the realm of reason. If an individual is a police officer, then their perspective will be very different to that of a criminal as a police officer will be aware that in order to fill their role, they must abide by the law and the criminal will understand that they will often be required take a great risks in order to avoid the law. This can also be seen in the novel 1984 by George Orwell in the views of the protagonist, Winston Smith. For Winston, his perspective is determined by how he fits into the Party, what his role and obligation to the Party is, and what the limitations are that the Party place on him. Stemming from this, his personal belief is what he can and can’t do to within the limitations that the Party place on him and the limitations that he places on himself to ensure protection from the Party. Throughout the story, Winston’s perspectives and personal beliefs change many times; always following the same pattern. This is that when his perspective of where he fits into the Party changes and his perspective of the limitations that they place on him change, for better or for worse, his belief in what he allowed to do and capable of doing changes in the same manner. If his perspective changes for better, then his personal beliefs will change for better as well and vice versa. This progression can be seen first when at the beginning of the story, when his perspective is bleak and he believes that he can do nothing. Once he meets Julia, his perspective improves from the austerity of before and he begins to believe that he can act proactively. Finally, this progression goes backwards when he is caught and he once again loses his hope and feels that he can do nothing.…

Through the words of Johnetta Cole “if you really know yourself, if you believe in who you are, it’s amazing how much criticism you can withstand”. Everyone in his or her lifetime has experienced criticism that has impacted their life in such a manner that has shaped their lives, for students in high school and college it’s an everyday occurrence. Student’s experiences in education should not be influenced based on where they come from financially, how they are perceived academically, and if they choose to pursue a higher education.…
