On Tuesday the class talked about the following quote," To seek the source, the impulse of a story is like tearing a flower to pieces for wantonness"(Kate Chopin). This quote feels like a spot on description of how a book should be read. I took this quote to mean that when reading a novel, the impulse to understand the climax or hidden meaning in the story is so great that one is practically willing do anything to find the clue that will relieve them of this desire. The noun form of wantonness means a sexually immodest or promiscuous woman. I took the flower in the quote to stand for a promiscuous woman. Upon seeing this type of woman, many men would jump to "tear"(Chopin) at this sort, to simply satisfy their impulse. Similarly when one is at loss as to what a story is trying to reveal, they will will tear apart everything to find…

Through these series of questions, I initially assumed that every answer held validity and is correct in its own right, which they can debatably be deemed as so. So it led me to ask ”what is the sense of questioning when there is no definite answer”.…

There are three standard heights to consider when tiling a bathroom wall: wainscot height, shower height, and full-wall height. You may use one, two, or all three of these heights in a single bathroom, depending on the look you are trying to achieve and on your budget. Because tiled walls are more expensive than wallboard, tile often is used only where it is needed most: on the lower portion of the wall that requires water protection. This wainscot is usually between 36 in. and 42 in. tall, enough to provide a backsplash of 4 in. or so above the sink. Tile protects the walls below towel bars from wet towels, and the walls around the toilet from the spray of rambunctious kids. Tiling to wainscot height may…

The Advanced Placement English Language and Composition Exam is an optional three-hour exam consisting of two parts: a multiple-choice section and a free-response essay section of three essays. The multiple-choice section is comprised of approximately fifty questions based on (usually) nonfiction reading selections. The free-response section requires students to analyze the rhetoric of differing prose styles and then compose essays (generally argumentative or analytical in nature) based on the selections. The synthesis essay requires students to compose a coherent essay synthesized from a variety of materials on the same subject. Teachers have been trained in AP workshops, and the teachers of English use the AP Language and Composition Writing/Analysis Guide in preparing units and lessons for their students.…

Vegetal patterns are used in many different places like in architectures, carpets, potteries, Qur’an, and so on. Usually, Mihrab, a niche that indicates the direction of Mecca, is decorated thoswith greater skill than other elements in mosque. This example of Mihrab is from the Madrasa Imami in Isfahan. It is composed of a mosaic of small monochrome-glaze tiles. These small tiles consist of blue and white hues. Blue and white tiles form inscriptions, and blue, light blue and white tiles form vegetal patterns and geometric patterns. In some parts, brown tiles are also used to form vegetal patterns and geometric patterns.
