Introduction:
“Is not a prayer a study of truth, a sally of the soul into the unfound infinite? No man ever prayed heartily without learning something.” Ralph Waldo Emerson. This quote basically says that people can learn from prayer. Everyone has freedom of religion from what the Constitution states. So should prayer be a loud in public schools?
Thesis
I believe that prayer should be a loud in public schools. Prayer is a way to get you through a day or pray for someone else to get through a day, to help you for a test, or to play well at your game.
Key Point 1
Prayer is just a conversation with something that you believe in. Prayer is going to happen and there shouldn’t be any reason to stop it. Teachers and school officials just need to understand that prayer makes people feel good about them. If students and teachers feel that they need to pray or to practice any type of religion then they should have the choice if they want to do it or not. People can’t help but who they are. Yes it can offend someone but on the other hand someone else can see a student or teacher pray and be moved by that. …show more content…
Key Point 2
1st amendment states “Protects freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of the press, as well as the right to assemble and petition the government.” So if this is true that there is freedom of religion then wherever you are you should be able to pray freely.
Most people think that showing prayer in classrooms can persuade someone to practice that religion but that’s not true. We all need to sit down and think that there are different religions out there and you don’t know what the person beside you practices. No matter what religion you are everyone should be able to pray however they please.
Key Point
3
Praying is a personal action and everyone needs to respect that. Whoever does pray they are not influencing anyone to practice that religion. Prayer provides a focus and a step toward where you need to be. Prayer provides a chance to stop for a moment and to get away from the chaos and to settle down. Prayer in class also shows us that we are not the only ones going through difficult times.
Conclusion
Prayer should be a loud for all religions in the public school system. The Constitution of the United States says that the government should not prohibit the exercise of a preferred religion. If people are saying that prayer shouldn’t be a loud in public schools then it should be seen as unconstitutional. Prayer gives the chance to feel the connection to God or any other spirit.
