Wilkerson’s article “Reasons why prayer should not be allowed in public schools,” “It would be a terrible burden on the school's.” School is a place for kids to find themselves and religion is a huge part of who people are. Teachers should be there to help the children find themselves even if that means putting in a little extra work. Stated by Katie Atkinson, a psychologist, “High school is a place where you are supposed to find yourself”. Schools are denying this privilege from students. Prayer is a way for kids to find others that are like them so they don’t feel alone. Children often become sad, disconnected, and worried when they are alone. Something to turn to that will give comfort in a time of need. Prayer is a belief. At the lowest point, getting down on your knees and just praying. In the Bible, Matthew 21:22 says “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer”. Having prayer and God in school, where kids spend most of their time is important. They can explore their beliefs and experiences with new people. These are just few examples of reasons why Prayer should be in public schools. Morality, belief, loneliness, and knowing oneself are all parts of prayer. Raising better children and watching them grow into successful people is worth the try of putting prayer back in schools. People should take a stand and put together a large petition of ‘Prayer in School’ online for people all over the world to see and watch the wonderful voices of people make this country a better
