Precious Movie

Lee Daniels’ did an exceptional job when producing the film Precious. The way he thought out the cast was well planned and pushed the envelope on controversial social issues as he’s always done. It was more than just another black movie, but a universal movie about many of life’s combative struggles. Producing Precious was an opportunity to open up the dialogue about incest, molestation, verbal abuse, obesity, and other topics that are difficult to talk about within society. The film was created and then released on the note of emancipation to survivors of trauma shown whether the viewer was a victim of Mary Jones’ character or Precious amongst other characters. It focused on the brighter side of overcoming hard times whereas Precious visually showed what hardships looked like. Like Precious, the protagonist Michael Oher, went through adversities as an adolescent such as obesity, a drug addict mother, homelessness and etc. Although this film wasn’t as flamboyant with certain topics as Precious, there were still moments of similarity and areas where viewers could empathize with Michael
Precious became a star while Michael became a NFL professional. From both perspectives, they taught life lessons through cinema. Life may deal you the wrong cards from birth, but it’s up to you as an adult to turn the game called “your future” around.
