Predictors of Managerial Success and Failure
Which of the seven dimensions do you think is probably the best predictor of managerial sucess? Which is the least predictive? Why?
Out of seven dimensions the best predictor of managerial sucess is Assertive Roles. Being a manager, he has to make other people work to achieve the common goals. Manager having assertive roles tend to be those who are able to reach higher goals and achieve bigger ambitions. Managers having assertive roles works towards own goals and dreams. Assertive roles makes manager visible within an organization. Assertive roles makes people go out and get what he want from his life and live the life to the fullest. I think the ‘Assertive Role’ is the most important out of all the factors and that Imposing wishes is the least important. In my opinion, being assertive is the backbone of managing; every work place must have a manager who is assertive and thus leading.

    I believe a manager should possess 3 basic traits. They are self-awareness, curiosity and independency. Let me elaborate more on this. First and foremost, in order to manage others one must first be able to understand oneself and manage themselves. To understand oneself one must be self-aware. They must know what biases they have so when it comes time to make decisions, they can make a clear concise bias free decision. Also when one is self-aware, they can keep their emotions and feelings out of the equation when deciding. Secondly, a manager should be someone who is curious because curious people will not only look at the surface but also dig deeper into the situation to find out what is actually happening. After looking at a situation from different angles, then they can try new approaches to find out if the real deal is actually what they forecast. Lastly, a manager has to be independent because they are the one who is making the crucial decisions.     While deciding how to classify each characteristic I think both, knowledge and value, can be attached to some of these characteristics. When a manager knows what his or her mission or purpose is within the organization he or she understands and is willing to work towards accomplishing the mission to the best of his or her ability.
