Engagement Analysis – Lopez Vending Company

1. In response to the annual employee survey conducted by Lopez Vending, the Cleveland, Atlanta and San Diego offices implemented suggestions from their senior managers and initiated pilot program to offer flexible work schedules. (2)

The Cleveland, Atlanta and San Diego offices implemented suggestions from their senior managers and initiated pilot program to offer flexible work schedules because of the fact that in these regions majority that is working is not white. Therefore, in order to be more socially responsible, the company is suggesting giving perk in the form of flexible working hours so that the company can be known for its anti-ethnocentrism. The other reason could be that mostly workers from these regions need improvement. The best non-financial way to improve productivity could be providing flexible work hours.

2. Central Virginia, Columbus and Minneapolis have experienced higher than average turnover rates. (2)

The reason that Central Virginia, Columbus and Minneapolis have experienced higher than average turnover rates could be the fact that majority of the employees of these cities are working well and have been ranked either “met goal” or “exceed goal” while the rank and the salary they are having are not meeting their expectations. This could be a reason that such a good talent is hired somewhere else at higher position with handsome amount of salary.

Flexibility is the basis for Chouinard’s work methodology. Flexibility in scheduling allows the balance between work and life. Thus, the Patagonia Company does not care when an employee works as long as the work is completed without impacting fellow coworkers (A Little Enlightened Self-Interest, 2010). A healthy life to work balance is a critical aspect to employee happiness. Thus, Patagonia’s implementation of a casual, but productive work environment is heavily sought.…

To evaluate my work I use the tools in the CWE, The Grammar and Writing guide that is there to help me develop my writing and communication skills. Also the Plagiarism paper checker to verify whether my sources are correct and I have not copied someone else idea. There are labs that you can access to help you with your sources if you’re struggling on a particular assignment and live services that you can attend via the WebEx and teleconference for about an hour. You have to commit yourself to doing the research and then utilize the tools within the library to assist you in determining the relevancy of your sources, by associating the main idea of your source to the main idea of your paper. The plagiarism checker is a great tool to use in determining the text of your paper has not been copied or structured in a way that reflects another person idea. To determine whether or not your source is reliable depends in part on two key factors, the author and his/her credibility in their field. Credible authors will cite their sources so you can check the accuracy of what they have written and how they support their viewpoint. Also, are their views of a neutral nature, and in agreement with your subject, and do they coincide with your topic and main idea? Using the internet as a source can be tricky because it is difficult to determine who the author is, anyone can submit or change the content. Keeping to peer reviewed text is the most reliable, because they undergo a strict evaluation process. The library and its sources has been a useful guide for me in my recent assignments and no doubt in future tasks. The checks and balances that it provides can and will assist you in submitting a quality paper and hopefully giving you an A paper. It is important to remember the effort and work you put in to writing a quality paper benefits you in the long run and strengthens your…

Please read this Case Study and Evaluate options. Should the availability of alternative work arrangements for private sector employees in the United States be mandated by law? Why or Why not? Explain your answer. No; because it should be employees choice if they want to work for an employer that has alternative work arrangements in their organization. Alternative work arrangements programs or guarantee employee participation in established programs, implementation and usage of alternative work arrangements programs depends upon management support and leadership. Alternative work arrangements can generate beneficial outcomes, particularly for employers, such as “increased employee retention, loyalty and morale; higher productivity; improved recruiting of highly qualified workers; decreased employee tardiness and unscheduled absences; and maximum used of facilities and equipment. And on balance, the positives seem to outweigh the negatives. Organizations that offer flexible working arrangements are, and will continue to be, employers of choice. Employees consistently rank flexible schedules high on their list of desired benefits; employers who are reluctant to offer these popular perks will find themselves falling short in the bidding wars for talent. Many nations have experimented successfully with various flexible work programs, and in some countries laws have been enacted to make alternative work arrangements more accessible to employees. The United States Congress has not enacted such legislation for the private sector; it has taken an important step in supporting alternative work arrangements for federal government employees. The Telework Enhancement Act of 2010 was passed by both house of Congress and signed into law by President Barack Obama in 2010. The Act provides a framework for agencies to better leverage technology and to maximize the use of flexible work arrangements. This will aid in recruiting new Federal…

Plenty of research has been done on this topic of flexibility and almost all of them show that in fact this working “method” has proven to have quite positive results (Stewart and Spatz, 1993). Among them, the Australian researchers Stewart and Spatz (1993), state that the significance that flexibility has on the productivity on the work place is not to be neglected and this is proven and accepted both by the employees and by the managers of the companies. Those companies that have implemented flexibility in their corporate structure have noticed the increased productivity immediately, while the other companies have started to consider it, but doesn`t completely believe that the productivity has been increased only due to flexibility (Stewart and Spatz, 1993).…

When I started to plan my presentation, I had a hard time deciding what, exactly, I was going to say. I had started with the idea that I would just basically go over the main points in my paper in the order I wrote them in. I had a hard time getting anywhere with that idea. Then I did the Exhibition Fair. I realized that one of my more common talks that I did during the fair would be a good order for me to cover things in my presentation. So away went my old order and in came my new idea that worked very well in my PowerPoint presentation.…
