Before beginning a document you must assess the purpose of your writing, and who your audience is. Once you know what you are writing about, and whom you are writing it to, then begins the formulation of ideas. I personally first review documents that relate to the topic and create key points to include in my writing. After you begin creating a thought process aligned with your writing, start free writing. During your free writing process, try not to deviate from your points. Provide accurate information, be concise and to the point, and complete your thoughts.…
The first step is pre-writing. Prewriting is basically thinking: first you choose a topic to write on, than you listen to your work, after that you brainstorm ideas, etc… This step helps to get the creative thought flowing; also identifies who, what, where, when, and why. Free-writing and idea mapping are ways to start thinking about the main topic, and also allows the writer to find how they can relate with the topic. Once the writer has an idea on what they want to write about, he or she should begin outlining the structure of their ideas.…
The five steps of the writing process are equally vital to the succession of any writing assignment, whether it is for work or school. The five stages include PREWRITING, PLANNING, DRAFTING, REVISING, and PROOFREADING. As our text (Arlov, 2014), explains, “Writing is not a single act, but a process composed of several steps,” (p. 3). Moreover, constructing a strong paper that is well-written (no matter how tedious it seems), requires efficaciously executing all five phases. It is crucial not to take shortcuts by eluding any step of the writing process.…

A key to quality construction of a systematic approach to writing is developing an outline that includes all assignment criteria (Hacker & Jones, 2009). Once the outline is created, one can build support by identifying resources that are applicable to the outline topics. The outline with sources identified and evaluated provides a framework which should make writing the paper easy. Preparing an outline is an essential step in writing. It will help with organization of the paper and suggest logical headings and subheadings. However, the outline is not typed into the paper. It is merely an organizational tool that results in a more focused paper.…

The seven-step process of writing that the book uses in its approach to teach eager-minded students to make their writing more effective starts with prewriting. This refers to strategies you can use to generate ideas before you actually begin writing. This step identifies with Dietsch’s “an idea becomes an effective essay”. During this stage, you are delving deep within your mind to identify how you will form an effective work. The second and third stages are identifying the thesis, and then supporting said thesis with evidence. Without evidence, the thesis will maintain no credibility, and will simply be an abstract idea with no structural backup. Dietsch touches on this by saying, “develops as the writer rethinks”. The writer must rethink their thesis and the evidence they…
Brainstorming or Free writing is a helpful component of prewriting; It involves writing down every idea and thought that comes to mind, when determining what topic you would like to write about and how you will go about it. Free writing is like an unstructured outline, and once you determine the specific ideas you’d like to pursue, you can dispose of all other irrelevant information.…
The prewriting method I had chosen for my narrative essay was freewriting. The reason why I chose that method is because of the topic I was given. The topic was my family’s traditional food. So, because the topic is about my family, I thought it would be easier to free write since it’s based on my own knowledge. This method allowed me to share what came into my mind, which included knowledge I knew about my family’s traditional food and its importance in my religion without stressing on research and correct grammar.…

Prewriting is a very important part of the writing process, because it helps a writer frame their paper and to get ideas to write about. When a writer is unsure what he/she can write about, that's when brainstorming come in. Brainstorming is a process where a writer just writes down ideas as they pop into his/her head (like I do). This helps a writer freely think about anything and does not block their ideas.
