1 1.1 2 Purpose and Scope

PROCEDURE FOR FIRST AID

The purpose of this procedure is to describe the requirements for First Aid and responsibilities of First Aider. Definitions First Aid Means: a) in cases where a person will need help from a registered medical practitioner or nurse, treatment for the purpose of preserving life and minimizing the consequences of injury and until such help is obtained; or treatment of minor bodily injuries which does not need treatment by a registered medical practitioner or nurse.

Responsibility Department Head will be responsible for training and refresher training of First Aiders and providing the First Aid Box. First Aider will be responsible for maintaining and updating the record of first aid and maintenance of the First Aid Box in their area of concern. Procedure for First Aider A sufficient number of First Aiders shall be maintained. First Aider is required if number of workers employed exceeds 25. At least one First Aider for every 100 employee or less shall be maintained. Sufficient number of First Aider shall be available for each shift according to the number of workers in the particular shift to comply with regulatory requirements. Selection of employee to be trained for First Aider shall be based on, but not limited following criteria: 1. 2. 3. Selected employee shall be sent to an accredited training provider to attend the Basic First Aid Course. A certificate of Trained First Aider will be awarded to the successful candidates. The certificate will be valid for a period of 3 years. Refresher training is required for recertification after that. Training record shall be maintained for all the employees
