Products, systems and environments can impact the individual, society and the environment throughout the production and design stage. These impacts may be both intentional and unintentional, and it is extremely important that designers consider the positive and negative consequences that their project may have in the present and future. An example of an environmental, individual and social impact would be the use of non-renewable resources and materials.

Designers have to take into consideration the different values of individuals and societies, as some individuals and societies may place significant value on a design factor, such as sustainability, while others may not put a significant emphasis on sustainability. Therefore, designers have to take this into consideration when designing a product, system or environment to match the needs of the target audience to ensure they create a successful product.

Religion can affect design, as people from different societies may have different views. Designers also have to show understanding of different cultures because what they may see as normal and acceptable may not be seen the same way by …show more content…
Therefore, the designer must account for the different individual needs, and this could be determined through qualitative or quantitative research methods, such as through the use of a questionnaire, survey or interview with the client or target audience. When individual needs are met, the design of the system, environment or product is deemed successful. This is because the design has a positive impact on the individual, which can improve their health or life. Products which meet an individual’s needs are more likely to succeed compared to products which have not met the individual’s
