Professional Organizations
CE 100 Unit 6 Discussion
Consider the roles and responsibilities associated with the careers and job positions of an early childhood development professional and conduct a website search to find a corresponding professional organization for a career of your choice in the field. You may also select one of the professional organizations from the unit readings to visit.
1. Add the link to that organization in your response (copy and paste the website address)
2. Explain how this organization could be useful to you as you pursue both an education and a career in the field of early childhood development.
3. How will does this organization help to support the responsibilities of a professional and fulfill the standards explored in the unit readings?
Remember to post approximately 100 words and make sure to review and comment on your classmates’ posts, too
The professional organization I chose is NAEYC, which stands for the National Association for the Education of Young Children. http://www.naeyc.org/ This organization was founded by a lady called Patty Hill in 1926 to represent early childhood education teachers, paraeducators, center directors, trainers, college educators, families of young children, policy makers and advocates.
While I pursue my education and career in this field, NAEYC will help me gain skills in program planning, outreach implementation, evaluation as well as confidence in myself as a leader. As a student I can explore NAEYCE resources and explore opportunities to serve the association and grow professionally.
NAEYC provides many different programs to assist professionals who work to educate young children. They publish a lot of educational resources such as books, videos and posters that can help in the teaching of young children. They also offer conferences each year where participants can learn about and receive professional development in their field as well as focus on improvements that have been made in their policies,

The National Association for the Education of Young Children represents the early childhood profession. Their book on developmentally appropriate practice and accreditation criteria define quality programs for young children. Developmentally appropriate environments help children develop in all areas—physical, social, creative, emotional, and cognitive. No one area of development is more important than another in the early years of a child’s life. It is often not possible to separate children’s development in one area from another. For example, as a child masters a physical skill such as climbing, self-esteem grows. The new physical skill makes it possible for the child to learn more about the world and to interact with friends.…
