I have 3 values that are highly important to me and they are to help others, honesty, and knowledge. Helping others is what nursing is all about. Nurses assist patients by relieving or dampening their pain and helping carry out treatment plans to get them on the road to recovery. This passion to help others can be maintained by making everyday taking care of patients interesting and worthwhile. It can be evaluated by how often a nurse advocates for a patient’s rights, beliefs, or requests. Nurses help patients by serving as teachers and role models to patients and families. Health promotion and health education are explained in ways so that the patient and family can fully understand.…

Nursing as a profession embodies many values inherent in those who pursue nursing careers. When nurses are asked to identify their core values, they are surprisingly consistent throughout the profession globally. They include honesty, responsibility, pursuit of new knowledge, belief in human dignity, equality of all patients and the desire to prevent and alleviate suffering. In other words, all of us as nurses have chosen this profession to help others in need and to improve the quality of life for all. That mantra has not changed since the days of Florence Nightingale.( Welling RE, Boberg JT. 2010)…

My goal is to aspire to become a skillful physician assistant. My passion is to help people and educate them to live a healthy lifestyle. I will respect each and everyone’s needs. I will support my values and provide quality care for all patients. I believe that to get the most effective results is building on to the physical strength. This comes about constantly varying methods and weight. After one specializes in a certain method, after a while it no longer shows results because the body has become accustomed to it. For an individual to be healthy we must work not only on physical strength, but skill oriented exercises, and cardiovascular performances.…

As a student studying physical therapy, it is important to practice professionalism, while understanding that you are not a professional yet. There are many attributes that one should have in order to be considered professional. The key attributes of professionalism that I aspire to practice as both a graduate student and professional are exhibiting emotional intelligence, obtaining and maintaining competency in the field, demonstrating accountability, engaging in active listening, and presenting oneself in a professional manner. Emotional intelligence as defined by Psychology Today, is the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically.
