Professionalism In Nursing Essay

The value of professionalism is not only measured by how great your capabilities are. It is not about mastering skills and performing it without mistakes. I personally believe that professionalism in nursing is being ethically oriented and the same time, able to manage conflict in a professional way. Ethical orientation is the approach of an individual to make an ethical judgment and thinking through distinct perception and sensitivity with the ability to identify the ethical core and nature of a problem. In nursing, knowing the influencing legislation, interprofessional practice, PN professional practice, and culturally sensitivity, are crucial to developing ethical thinking that can contribute to professionalism in the workplace.

 Legislation influencing practice:
• The legislation governs the rights of the client through policies to maintain their dignity and justice.
• For practical nurses, the CLPNBC governs and regulates them by setting standards, supporting the nurses to meet the standards, and acting upon the nurses who do not meet and failed to achieve the standards.

Treat them appropriately without bias and judgment and be extra cautious about their cultural values and view them respectfully for it is a huge part of their identity.
• The importance of cultural sensitivity will surely help me in the future practice because sensitivity can turn into a strength by having open-mindedness that can lead to innovation and progress.
• Furthermore, Effective collaboration is the key to gain new ideas and strategies from a co-worker and/or a patient because they can think outside the box and some of them are creative and helpful.
