Background and Purposes
We understand that the integration of a course oriented to train the students into making relations with China is fundamental to the growth of this institution. With more than a thousand registered students in the Business Administration Bachelor’s Degree Program it should be, at the least, considered to design a course to better prepare them for the future. The purpose of the survey is to: a) determine the level of importance the students have about the Chinese Mandarin language, b) the level of interest the students in learning a new language, and c) the perception of the students about Mandarin.
Proposed Plan
The researcher proposes the following plan regarding the introduction of a new language course:
Survey. The researcher will develop a short and easy-to-fill questionnaire to obtain the information necessary to have a better understanding of the students’ view of the Mandarin language. The survey will include a small amount of closed questions to promote the fill in process. The questionnaire will measure the students’ interests and the perception on learning a language so different from their own but, none the less, important. After you approve it, the questionnaire will be distributed though a selected segment of 50 students registered this year in any Business Administration program within the University of Puerto Rico in Bayamón.
