The significant state-to-state variation of ARNP scope of practice creates some formidable barriers to the continuing advancement the profession, especially in the realm of autonomy. The impact of these variations include impeding acceptance of advance practice nurses as primary practitioners, both with organized medicine, as well as with insurance payers. In fact, even in states that grant ARNPs full autonomy, some payers impose more restrictive requirements and require APRNs to bill for their services under a physician’s name, or reimburse at a lower rate (Hain & Fleck, 2014). The disparity from state to state also has federal agencies, like the Federal Trade Commission, investigating their role in the regulation of the nursing profession…
When you actually take a look at the two types of Nurses you find many similarities and differences. There are many stereotypes placed on Nurses, like an LPN is not a real nurse, or an LPN is the “bottom feeder” in the care setting. The general public has been led to believe that there is a large difference between the RN and the LPN and the care they provide. There is little or no truth to this. I feel as though people have gotten the wrong information about nurses, and the jobs they do. Both The Registered Nurse (RN) and the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) play vital role in the Medical Field and shouldn’t be looked down upon regardless of which title they achieve.…

Recently, a small group consisting of three Breckenridge nursing students researched the education levels of a registered nurse. The title registered nurse is held in high regards respectively. Each nurse and perspective nurse is an individual and has a different home life from one another. Some of them may have to work a full time job to keep a roof over their head. Others may work part time or enough to keep their license active. All of those factors determine the individual’s level of education and commitment to work.…
Nurse practitioners are registered nurses with the education and extensive experience required to perform in an advanced clinical role. A nurse practitioner's scope of practice extends beyond that of the registered nurse. In Australia, the Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia (NMBA) endorses nurse practitioners in accordance with their scope of practice. The nurse practitioner role includes assessment and management of clients using nursing knowledge and skills and may include but is not limited to the direct referral of patients to other health care professionals, prescribing medications and ordering diagnostic investigations.…
The American Association of Medical Colleges estimates that by 2025 the U.S. will face a physician shortage of over 130,000 physicians. This deficiency is creating an increased demand for Nurse Practitioners and Physicians Assistants. With approximately 205,000 nurse practitioners and 104,000 physicians assistants, they are increasingly becoming the solution to the country’s physician shortage. They are helping to provide cost-effective patient care routinely provided by physicians. Though they are filling essentially the identical positions, there are differences between the two professions.…

The pay is good in 2013 the nurse practitioner made a median salary of 92, 600. The highest paid was 127,000 and the lowest was 67,000. The salary changes from state to state and the type of facility the NP is working in. For instance if a NP was working in a private setting the salary would be at least 111,000, Emergency Room or Urgent Care they salary would be 115,000 or a Rural Health Care facility the salary would range to 93,000 a year.…
As nursing reaches for higher education goals and greater responsibilities, standards for nursing practice must evolve as well. With this greater education, nursing should be supported in practicing with less limitation. They should also achieve greater trust of their advanced knowledge so that nurses can practice to their full potential. The advanced knowledge of physicians is needed in many areas of health care, and there is a need for physicians to delegate primary care practices to nurse practitioners who are fully capable of carrying out these…
Why become a physician assistant (PA) over a doctor (MD) or a registered nurse (RN)? Although the duties of a RN resemble those of a PA, PA’s have more responsibilities and the ability to prescribe medication, plus the salary is a lot better. Of course with more responsibilities comes more education, while RN’s only require a 4-year degree, becoming a PA requires the completion of a 2-3-year physician assistant program. I decided to go for PA instead of MD because I do not want to go to school for another 6 years or put myself hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. As a physician assistant, I get to perform the same duties as a doctor with the exception of surgery; I could assist in surgery only under supervision of a physician. Another reason to choose PA over MD was the flexibility when it comes to specialties. Doctors are required to choose a specialty and…

Nursing is a profession within the healthcare field that focuses on caring for the sick and unable. Nurses differentiate themselves from other healthcare professionals by having alternate methods of care, educational requirements, and different scopes of practice. The word nursing is very broad because there are various titles one can go by when providing nursing care. Although there are many different roles in nursing, they all correlate to one another to provide the best care possible for an individual patient and their families.…
People have always wondered who are the people that take care of family or friends while they are sick? Many people think that the doctors take care of the patients their whole stay but that is not true, behind the scenes the nurse practitioners take care of the patients.
